my mistake. turns out the list i'm working off has neither 3 decimal points nor up-to-date stats from the last year or so

Just to double check as not sure if that is in response to Teuton before or after Coronis's last pick is it Coronis again and then me?

And that was my reasoning behind the post War thing. A 48 average batsman for 39 just ain't right.
There are prob enough of them that it just would have been a trade-off though - ie most teams will have 1 (elite) player averaging in the 30s (or low 40s), so it would have just been a choice of the imran/s.pollock/kapil/botham/miller group or trumper/grace/hill/noble or QdK/etc or a very good batting allrounder shakib/stokes/greig/macartney.

I didn't know batting average data was kept anywhere to 3 decimal places
not kept anywhere - could just be worked out in case of a tie (ie McCullum & Tamim are both listed as 38.64). Actually I don't recall if a rule was set for tied averages.

Which rather makes my Nourse pick quite unusual and cheap.

I've just been calculating them to a third decimal place in case of a tie. If for example Atherton had averaged 37.692 he'd have been ineligible for Marcuss.

Sorting by averages on statsguru will show you who is higher even if it displays only 2 decimals.
