Am just worried that would lead to the best SC players being picked for county sides and leaving the SC FC teams empty of options

Not once the county teams are locked out though. Think it would just make things simpler.

Still with the "played in the country's premier FC comp" rule, so we can't pick "Gordon Greenidge for the Michael Parkinson's World XI"?

Do you allow former teams such as the Combined Islands in the WI Shell Shield?

Yes for has to play in the premier comp

Yes for former/defunct teams

And for SA I'm confused too. Looking their teams it's a bit confusing to me. I guess they should all be eligible?

I'll generate the first round order later today

It looks like you need one more? If so I can play.
It will be tough when we get to the second half but same for every one (except those with in depth knowledge of SC FC cricket).

So, we're going with the 7 hour per pick rule. But for the first 24 hours, itl be 14 hours per pick for everyone. that should be enough time for people to get settled

The rules:

*No Bradman

*Once a player from a designated FC team is picked, that that FC team is off the table!

*A player can be picked for any FC team they played for, whether that team is still active or not doesn't matter. The only caveat is that the team must have once played in their nations premier FC competition, so no All star teams or anything like that. I hope this allows for all the SA teams in the previous post to qualify. Don't know how their system works though

So apparently the SAA Provincial challenge isn't really the premier comp... but a lot of those teams were former members of the Currie Cup. And some have now merged to make up the teams in the current premier competion, the renamed SuperSport series(or is it called the Sunfoil Series, veyr confusing)

Point it is, I think I'm leaning toward them all being eligible

God this annoying. From wiki:

  • Barbados (now going by the franchise name Barbados Pride)[6]
  • Guyana (now going by the franchise name Guyana Jaguars)[6]
  • Jamaica (called the Jamaica Franchise until[6] the franchise name Jamaica Scorpions was chosen)[7]
  • Leeward Islands (now going by the franchise name Leeward Islands Hurricanes)[6]
  • Trinidad and Tobago (now going by the franchise name Trinidad and Tobago Red Force)[6]
  • Windward Islands (now going by the franchise name Windward Islands Volcanoes)[6]
The following teams have also made appearances in the competition:

So apparently a bunch of country's A teams have played in the West Indies' top tier FC competition? lol. From these, I am only going to deem Combined Islands to be eligible. (To go along with the 6 main teams from the WI)

@SeamUp can probably answer this better. Currently SA have 6 franchise teams that make up the top level domestic cricket. Then a level below there are 11 provincial teams that play 3-day FC cricket. This structure was setup around 2000 or so. Prior to that the premium tournament was 8 (or 9!) teams under a provincial FC tournament. The number of teams has varied throughout the history of cricket in SA.

Simplistically, if you looking for FC cricket (broad definition) then look for the FC provincial cricket and higher (this would then include the franchises more recently).

Yeah. I'm thinking all of Combined, Leeward and Windward Islands are elgible for WI

And for SA, it'l be these teams from the old era:

Currie Cup - Provincial Era[edit]

ClubSeasonsOutright winsShared winsTotal winsSeconds
Transvaal/Gauteng752542921
Natal/KwaZulu-Natal71213249
Western Province711832119
Orange Free State403-33

Northern Transvaal/Northerns

Rhodesia/Zimbabwe-Rhodesia220-01
Western Transvaal/North West50-00
Boland110-00

To go with the 6 current sides in the modern comp.

The County, NZ and Shield stuff is self explanatory.

The SC stuff well, we'l have to research it ourselves but it should be easy enough as they dont have multiple FC comps (I don't think)

There's the zonal stuff (Duleep Trophy) in addition to the state stuff (Ranji Trophy) in India. SL FC cricket is all over the place since it's basically just club cricket — there's a team called Nondescripts. The departmental teams in Pakistan's QeA should make things fun too.
