Probably been noted, but anyway - anyone else notice players being given different roles when restarting with a new team? I played several seasons as Leicestershire and have just started a new game with Essex. Looking through the Leicestershire squad, Allenby is now an allrounder instead of a specialist bat, Du Toit and Taylor are now openers and Gurney is now a bowler instead of a batsman. Also, Gregory Lamb (whom I bought when playing as Leicestershire) is now a spinner instead of a medium pacer.

Just opened up some old saves for the original ICC.

Legendary England team. Brings back good memories.

Best thing about selecting Willis. He always had a good 10-15 years of his career ahead, guaranteed mid 30's batting average. Solid selection everytime.

Stoked with my new rookie leg spinner. Made 56* with the bat in his first innings and then took 6/71 over 2 innings. Then in his next game, the 20/20 semi final he took 4 wickets in 4 balls (3 in one over and 1 the first ball of the next) finishing with 5/20.

According to my ICC (where I'm playing Australia) the first Ashes test will be a thrilling 29-run victory for the Aussies. Cameron White will star.

Greg Lamb has always been a spinner iirc.

Oh right, yeah tbh I haven't played a version of ICC since the one that first used the true 3D highlights.

Clare is insane in this version, i picked him up off the contracts for $89K and he is worth every penny - he's like Englands version of Watson lol. It's cool too because I have actually met him and played in the same XI with him when he came for a season in Hamilton:cool:

I just got International Cricket Captain 2009 and from the trial I've done and just starting to play it again now, I reckon that 2008 was a touch better on the actual game. Obviously the new features and additions make 2009 a bit better as a whole, but if they had the same features I'd probably prefer 2008.

Anywho, looking forward to playing it.

Has anyone tried this, being an international team, picking a domestic team but without current internationals?

NSW's team is bad but has lots of potential for me, lots of young guys. Haven't played Bracken yet either, but will need to bring him into contention for the next series and series after that.

Bowling attack of Bracken, Bollinger, Cameron and Casson owns. Got Bird, ****ley and Hazelwood in reserve, but one of them will have to be omitted from the squad for Bracken.

Reckon I will give some lesser sides a run for their money.

The team just went down 5-0 against South Africa, but showing potential. Scores of 77 for Thornely in the second game, 78 for Khawaja and 88* for Rohrer for the third game, 113 for Warner in the 4th game, and 62 and 63 respectively for Thornely and Rohrer in the 5th game, as well as Bollinger taking 3/33.

Thornely and Rohrer are my main batsmen, now I've got Bracken in he should own as well, because he isn't currerntly playing internationals, so he is available for selection to me. Making a pretty decent team, with some technique and practice on some guys. I had to make way for Bracken, got rid of Hazelwood, Hazelwood will spearhead Australia in the future on my game if he gets enough technique on his bowling. Pretty keen to play this game for a fair few years, see how everything progresses and who becomes stars. I reckon I can make this team a winning team by about 2012.

This is interesting, I went alright in both games in the Twenty20 World Cup, but was knocked out after my first 2 games.

In the tour matches, Bollinger and Casson confimed their spots. Against MCC (who are dire) Smith saved his career for a while with a century, as well as centuries to Khawaja and Rohrer, with 81 to Thornely, and 78 to Warner in the first tour match.

Gunna run with a bowling attack of Bollinger, Bracken, ****ley, Henriques and Casson

****ley just got in over Bird and Cameron even thought Cameron is good I play more like real life, thus ****ley performed better in the tour matches and gained selection.

I've started a game on 09 without picking anyone that has played test cricket. FTR the team I usually go with is
Klinger
Broad
Pomersbach
D Hussey*
Voges
Wade+
Hopes
Noffke
Magoffin
Dorey
Doherty

Dorey is the best bowler by a mile while Doherty has been a pleasant surprise. Daniel Doran did ok in the one or two matches hes played as well. Ryan Broad is very good, particuarly in ODI's, averaging well over 40.

Tim Paine has been in the squad but struggles to make a run, Cosgrove is next in line for a batting spot. ****ley has played a few tests as well and has gone ok, will probably replace Magoffin soon.

Apart from a couple of good players, I didn't do much. Lost 5-0. Honestly was in a couple of matches when I bowled them out for 300 odd, got to 2/190 odd then collapsed and didn't get to their score once, and collapsed but made some more once. Then in the second innings they owned me until they declared, and won.

To compound this, Casson (spinner, one of my best bowlers) and Bollinger (one of my better bowlers but in bad form) both had to retire hurt (luckily in separate tests or I would have been in big trouble!) forcing them to miss tests and now the ODI's with injuries. Picked them both because they are due back in a week.

It's insane how good Hughes is on this.....after 60 innings for both tests and ODI he's averaging over 70 in both, 4000+ and 3000+....and his first class career is better(85+). I think I've hit like 8 150*+ in ODI's with him as well, crazy.
