Going OK against a pretty evenly matched side. Colts 139/4 after 33. They raced off to 80 for the first wicket, with Bewers going for 56 off his opening 7, but since then I've got rid of their dangermen, two Sups and a strong, now two Resps are finding it hard going against my spinners, Sup/Prof Bridges M and Prof/Feeb Cash, on League debut.

Cash is also a Resp/Resp bat, and is opening today, so I was kind'a hoping for a tidy YP, so I could rest cash in the cup. But Adam strikes again:-), so I think I might just back my top six, and play Feeb Bat Bewers at No.7 in order to include five specialist bowlers.

MTF, Trev

Bridges M starting to impose The Gurs' authority here, with three quick wickets. Colts now 145/7 after 38, will hopefully be chasing less than 175, and Greening, Staveley and Noon won't have to bat.

Bloody hell... 101 off the last 10, only wicket was a run-out of the last ball. Finished on 288-4.

Armstrong 135 off 129
Dillon 90* off 71

I'm hoping my opening bowlers do some damage, because they've got very little batting depth. They were the side that was relegated last season, they're pretty good but just a little bit below my side on ratings - think they had proficient top order (same as me) and feeble middle order (I've competent). They have a respectable all-seam bowling attack, I was respectable seam and proficient spin.

Good start for me, bowling first against NorCricket. Watkins got rid of Dewing (Aus U19 exceptional bat) in his first over, and Leadbeater (quality bat) in his second. Got Watkins bowling his ten straight through.

All over here, won by six wickets.

Bowled them out for 160, Bridges M 10/2/29/5, Cash, on League Debut, 8/2/26/3, Bent 10/3/20/1, Edworthy and Bewers bowling filth, going for over 100 between them in 13 overs.

Batting was helter-skelter, RR rarely dropped below five and was over six for a while, but wickets went at regular intervals. Patel, normally so reliable at the top of the order, was cleaned up for 1, likewise Bennett at No.3 - Whilst pinch hitters Cash and Carey both had entertaining cameos without threatening to take charge of the game, posting 25 and 31 respectively at better than a run a ball. So it was left to the two guns, Staveley and Greening, to save the day with an unbroken stand of 92. Staveley finishing with 44* (59) and Greening hitting the winning runs in the 33rd over, to take him to a first fifty of the season in 47 balls.

All in all encouraging to have our first Div IV victory under our belts, but plenty to work on and worry about.
1. Bewers, Sup/Resp LM, was absolutely carted in the opening overs, by players who were only his equal at best, as happened last time we were in Div IV. I'm wondering if he's cut out for opening the attack at the higher level - Although in order to make him first or second change I'd have to save up to buy an opening bowler.
2. Bennett failed again in the top order, this time at No.3. He now averages something like 7 at the top of the order and closer to 60 at No.5 and below. I guess the simple answer to this is to only bat him down the order, but there are times that he's going to have to open to give better players a blow.
3. Which brings me on to my next point. Disappointingly the game lasted 83 overs and has probably had a significant PFL effect. I hadn't wanted Staveley and Greening to bat, so that one of them at least would be fresh enough to play in the Cup on Sunday and FC on Tues. The squad is pretty thin ATM, and with no prospect of being strengthened in the immediate future, I'm going to have to be very careful how I manage things, and establish a clear FC/OD priority early on in the campaign.

Also my worst ratings in about six months!

Against a decent side, but one i think i ought to win. Chasing 283 to win (Islam took a fifer again), was struggling a bit early on at 57-2 but Abdul Kadir has come in firing on all cylinders, currently 105 from 87. 210-2 after 34, *should* win from here.

First up, I'm a muppet. I've got an abysmal and my wicket-keeper (!) bowling as I switched the batting order but not the bowling. They're getting hit around the park.

That's not really important though, as I made 361-7. No-one made a big score, but Ndah made an impressive quick-fire 82*:

Ndah 82* (69), Devapriya 48 (42), Hinshelwood 39(21), Nix 84(80), Gowshall 51(46)

They're 197-0 after 34, and need a RR of 10.

They BT-collapsed (patent pending)

And that's the end of the match. Jamees 999ers won by 76 runs.
Jamees 999ers 361-7
Frecheville 285-10

204-0 to 285.

Now I've got to build up till Sunday, and a tricky cup match.

For some reason my match was fast-forwarded, so I can find out already that I've lost. 280/8 v 148/10, Cuss got a duck and Watkins only 32.

Yikes.

Peters Utd 71 all out
Dynamo Morpork 41 all out

Granted, it was a cracked pitch, but that's the strangest result ever. Think batting training is in order.

Won today against a team I think I thought I'd lose to. The site's being a bit dodgy though, and I can't see if I was expecting to beat them or not. I forgot to do my orders before the game, so Rhodes, Rahimuddin and Umar still played, so I might well rest them for the FC game, and definitely for the cup.

The commentary is back online again if you want to view your collapse in real time...don't think I'm going to hang around to watch mine.
