Ponies wrap up their game against the Alternative XI fairly easily

Alternative XI 203 (48.2)
Edgehill 68 (119), Gratton 57 (93), Tailor 24* (30)
Dunne 5/44 (9.2), Tedstone 3/35 (10)

Magical Ponies 2/204 (34.2)
Griffin 112* (105), Farmer 37 (42), Canning 29 (34)
Sekhon 1/35 (5.2), Lebohan 1/54 (7)

I had Canning coming in at three to see if it'd improve my top order ranking, given he's strong. Instead, it brought it down, due to his fitness I presume.

Magical Ponies Alternative XI
Top Order: competent mediocre
Middle Order: competent feeble
Lower Order: abysmal abysmal
Seam Bowling: competent mediocre
Spin Bowling: respectable mediocre
Fielding: woeful feeble
MOTM: Dunne

Edit: Ooo, just noticed that the prize money for the leagues has come in. Pushes me over 100k.

Wasted 34 ITS on someone virtually useless. Meh, as long as I get at least one good one early next season.

33/3from3.3

A valiant loss to davo's Lancashire. Was unlucky to lose Gray, Mcmillan & Jones all at once, but that's the way the cookie crumbles... Probably my best ratings this season, too:

Robertinho Select XI
Top Order: proficient
Middle Order: feeble
Lower Order: abysmal
Seam Bowling: mediocre
Spin Bowling: proficient
Fielding: woeful

A nice transfer here. Not sure how much I'll get from prizes (2nd in V) but it'll hopefully fund half of it:

Jlloyd Ndah - 29 yo, BT Rating=7,928
LH Batsman, LFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A steady player with mediocre leadership skills and feeble experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: respectable Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: worthless Consistency: woeful
Fielding: respectable

He's struggled in Australian II cricket, but he'll slot in at Number 5 in my order, and, he might take a turn at opening in a form of the game (possibly OD) to give Nix or Trotman a rest.

Finished the season with 2 consecutive victories but still finished last but thats more due to the fact that i started the season 4 matches late. I believe i did a decent job since i won all three of the matces that i got to play against the 7th and 6th placed teams.

End of Over 50: 285-2, runrate=5.70
Marrison 10-0-49-1
Aldred* 52 (36 balls)
Gowshall 118 (114 balls)

A 34 ball 50 from Maurice Aldred turns a very slow start into a competive match. Earlier Trotman hit a well-made (if a big sluggish) 80. Century from Gowshall shows why he's one of the biggest names in Grayham.

Need some luck with atleast 2 acadamy graduates, overall really looking forward to the next season with my young team.

Finished 5th in my division. Probably stay in the same division, try and win the play-off. Count on the FC Matches to bankroll me next season.

Further proof that ratings don't mean crap...

Sad Decadent XI Indians Rule
Top Order: competent feeble
Middle Order: feeble feeble
Lower Order: worthless abysmal
Seam Bowling: feeble feeble
Spin Bowling: mediocre feeble
Fielding: woeful woeful

Lost that match.

Bardle turns the game on it's head.

44.4 W Bardle to Eyre
That has jagged back off the seam and hit the top of the off stump. Hinshelwood catches the bail and hands it to the umpire.
44.3 W Bardle to Lineker
Lineker threw his bat at that one and lofted it straight into Ndah's hands. Well held!

End of Over 45: 261-6, runrate=5.80, reqrunrate=5.00 (285-2)
Bardle 8-0-29-5
Finlyson* 1 (2 balls)
Orsborne 18 (13 balls)

Last Wicket: Eyre b. Bardle 0 (FOW: 260/6)

EDIT:

I didn't mean for this guy to be death bowling.

End of Over 46: 279-6, runrate=6.07, reqrunrate=1.75 (285-2)
Derick 8-0-75-0
Orsborne* 23 (15 balls)
Finlyson 14 (6 balls)

Last Wicket: Eyre b. Bardle 0 (FOW: 260/6)

45.6 4 Derick to Finlyson
Finlyson has smashed that through the covers for four.
45.5 4 Derick to Finlyson
The straight drive bisects the field. Shot of the day so far!
45.4 1 Derick to Orsborne
Lovely soft hands as Orsborne just drops the ball at his feet and sprints through for a single, good running by the batsmen.
45.3 4 Derick to Orsborne
Edged, over the slips and down to the boundary.
45.2 1 Derick to Finlyson
Pushes away onto the onside, one run.
45.1 4 Derick to Finlyson
Beautifully guided to the third man boundary for four.

EDIT (2)

46.6 W Bardle to Orsborne
Oh what a catch. Bardle has *****cat-like reflexes.

The Number 9 comes to the crease! 5 needed, 3 wickets in hand, can Derick hold on for Bardle's last over?

No such luck.

47.3 4 Derick to Finlyson
Slower delivery, picked up over mid on for the boundary.
47.2 1 Derick to Marrison
Marrison just guides that down to thirdman for a single.Good cricket.
47.1 1 Derick to Finlyson
Solid stroke down to long off.

Well played Marc, Bardle showed why he's the greatest 999er ever, with 9-0-31-6, and in the end you snuck over the line. Good game.

And that's the end of the match. AA for President! won by 3 wickets.
Jamees 999ers 285-2
AA for President! 287-7

AA for President! Jamees 999ers
Top Order: competent competent
Middle Order: mediocre competent
Lower Order: woeful woeful
Seam Bowling: competent competent
Spin Bowling: mediocre feeble
Fielding: woeful feeble

MOTM: Lineker

Lineker 94 (99), beats Bardle 31-6 and Gowshall 118 (114) to the MOM award.

Right, I've finished 2nd.

2nd

Tricky start to the season with 1st away followed by 3rd at home. If you’re lucky you got a bot relegated into your league in spot 1. If not you will no the strength of the 2 teams and judge whether you can win one or both games. 7th is next away which should be an easier match.

Then you start a financial purple patch. Your next 5 matches are Home (5th), Home (6th), Away (8th), Home (4th), Home (1st). After these 5 games you should be well cashed so this is a good time to plan to buy a player/s to boost your squad.

This financial boon is offset by a very dry patch to finish the season with only 1 home game in the last 4 (Away (5th), Away (6th), Home (8th), Away (4th)). During this period your cash flow will be going backwards so either aim to have plenty of cash to offset this or ride the wave of debt into next season.

Strategically a tough start to the season but it’s the financial side of 2nd spot which is the focus here. The 4 home matches from Round 4-8 should be seen as you financial windfall. Plan for it. Even if you go into debt expand your stadium in the first couple of weeks of the season (if it needs expanding that is). That way you’ll have your big brand spanking new seats ready to roll for the first of the 4 home matches and raking in the cash. Your temporary debt for the expansion should be recovered easily.

(From the bt forums).

Now, I've never expanded my stadium. So I'd appreciate it if someone trustworthy could expalin to me what they'd recommend expanding my stadium to, etc. :)

Posting spree!

Doing some research on the team that's coming down into my OD division for next year, and I'll be travelling to first.

THEY'RE A BOT! This means, that unless some kick-*** team gets promoted, I'll be able to progress into Division 4 with out much trouble :D.
