Wow that's harsh. I'd be training Udara in at least batting. He could play as your allrounder for now I guess. You should probably also train Saadik, but there's no one else to train. You should be looking on the market for some decent (competent+ primary) players. You can get decent (mediocre stamina, woeful concentration, competent bat) competents on the market for under 50k fairly easily.

Get Pedro, he's probably only one net away from respectable.
Just bidded on your player Anton Baptiste, hopefully time zones don't stuff me up like every other guy i have bid on this week. :@

An interesting couple of days coming up for The Gurs, with two matches I should win easily, but I'll probably have to put out decent teams to make certain of comfortable victories. Tomorrow's league match is against a new side, who's manager doesn't appear to have signed in yet, since ownership changed hands on 4th June. In their one previous match they only posted ratings of Woes across the board, but they did put 312 on a Med rated seam attack, and won at a canter. On closer examination they have one Resp and three Comp batsmen, plus a Resp and a highish Prof bowler, which is pretty damn generous for a starting squad, so I'm not taking them too lightly, although I will still TIE.

So most of the changes to the side are cosmetic, with Noon nudged up to Attacking batting and Edworthy to Attacking Bowling. I'd guess that Noon is now probably a better WK than Carless, although, with Noon receiving two nets and Carless none, I've decided to keep Carless behind the sticks in the easier matches, in order to preserve Noon's PFL. Noon will however take his keeping bow for the rematch against Dragnets, and I may also see how he goes in a friendly. For the time being Carless retains his place in the side on the strength of his batting alone, as with Top Comp Bat and Resp Conc, I figure I need to recruit at least a Resp/Med+ or a Prof to trump him, and I can't yet afford anything like that at the current prices.

But there will be one new signing in tomorrow's side, as I moved to plug one of the weaknesses in the team, namely the B4 slot. Hitherto it's been taken by Crick, low Comp RF, Feeb Stam, Med Cons, not really good enough. I had hoped to save up and replace him with a Prof or better, but I saw this guy going for £124K with less than an hour left, and so, with one eye on FC, I snapped him up.

He must be a highish Resp too, judging by his wage. I presume Resp Stam is contributing around £200, but I don't reckon his other secondaries amount to much, so there's probably about £950's worth of bowling there. Does anyone know how long it would take him, at his age, to be trained up to Prof? I know it would be mainly a cosmetic thing, but, in today's market, it could mean the difference between flogging him on as a Resp for £25K profit when I've finished with him, as opposed to a quarter of a mill profit as a Prof!

Have my second blind cricket league match on Sunday, and as I say, should win relatively easily. They have alright'ish batting, but their bowling attack really sucks, so I'd back Greening and Staveley to chase down whatever they score without much trouble at all. And I need a good win, after narrowly losing my opener against Liverpool Lightning last Sunday - And I hate to say that it was probably my own fault for treating them with too much respect. I thought I'd done really well to restrict them to 262/5, despite them giving me some tap in the latter portion of their innings to revive themselves from a dismally slow start. But my innings just never got going at anything like the kind'a pace it needed to, and I ended up going down by ten runs. With no fitness issues in my team, either Stam or PFL, I can only imagine that it was because I'd knocked most of the batsmen down a level of aggression, to try and keep wickets in hand against a pretty mean seam attack, but in the end all I did was gummed up my reply. Noon top scored with 60 off 112 balls and he was accompanied by Patel for the mid-innings funeral procession with 38 (81). Staveley and Greening had gone along at a fair lick, keeping ahead of the rate in the first fifteen, but they went for 42 and 17 respectively, which was the cue for Noon and Patel to pitch their tents for the night. Carless 37 (27) and Bennett 33 (20) did give it some pasty, but they'd inherited a near-impossible situation, requiring about a ton off the last ten, which wasn't helped when the lower order wagged much in the manner of a hamster with wet-tail. So I came up short on 252/8. Though I was robbed in the ratings,

No training pops this week, but I wasn't really expecting any. Noon and Bennett should hit Prof Bat in the next two to three weeks, Staveley to Sup Bat within a month, and then I have to wait around a further two to three weeks for Greening to reach Qual bat. Bridges M and Bewers may just hit Sup Bowling by the end of the season, but I guess that would pretty much be it.

Later, Trev.

BTW, in my third season now, joined 27/9/05.

Thanks, I needed the extra cash to be able to bid on a batsman, but I'll probably get screwed over by time zones as well. BTW Scaly, you can bid up to 150k more than you have in the bank (projected balance, not current). If you've got a player on the market at the time (like I do) the amount that he's going for counts towards the amount you're allowed to bid as well.

Probably too late to get a bid on some of my players, will look to see if I can get decent money for the listed players anyway, should be able to get a suitable gun batsman over the next two weeks.
