Myrtlebank CC vs. Magical Ponies

An easy 8 wicket win, but against a bot team I was annoyed at losing two wickets. Am looking forward to Cameeel whooping me in the upcoming friendly.
Of Course, my team will be so confident they'll smash you :p

Looks like my team are trying to give the opposition a chance, batsmen 3 and 4 decided to score around 10 runs off their first 30 balls after my team were 111-1 after 20 overs.

Another of those objectionable Battrick commentaries:

4.6 W Emmanuel to Hammond
smacked the ball straight into the groin of Shields who fell over, miraculously with the ball still caught in his scrotal area! Out!

(I'm sure someone else has mentioned this already but I can't be bothered checking)

I'm sure you've seen this before, but after a wide had been bowled, the commentary said that 'I thought the umpire was trying to give me a hug, but it was just a wide.'

Yea had that one a few times.

Scaly Piscine CC 263-3, The Sloggers 99-5 off 24 overs.

Glad I keep playing on green pitches, although it seems everyone is a bit short on spin bowlers?

WOW!! He has been given out hit ball twice. Why oh why did he do that?? The most rare of dismissals!

Jamees 999ers 289-8

I'm heading towards a loss:

End of Over 26: 121-2, runrate=4.65, reqrunrate=7.88 (309-4)
Thorpe 3-0-24-0
Stubbs* 16 (30 balls)
Haughton 56 (51 balls)

Commentary for my league match up now. I'm up against a team which has won 20 of its last 21 games, as I think I've already mentioned (i.e. making excuses for my eventual loss).

We're doing pretty well so far though. Won the toss and batted, currently 183/0 after 31 overs on a green deck. Would like to go a bit faster given no wickets down, but I'll take it. I think we'll need 350 to be reasonably confident against this opposition though. Cuss is on 91* off 78, Bridge 81* off 114. Rather worryingly though, Bridge has only scored 1 off his last 11 balls, even though he is set to 'very attacking'. No disrespect to him, but I hope he gets out soon. Cuss is only set to 'attacking', interestingly enough.

38.4 . Easton to Bridge
The non-striker sends him back after a mix up, they need to work on communication.
38.3 . Easton to Bridge
well wide of off, stayed very low, Bridge not tempted to play a shot
38.2 . Easton to Bridge
He’s gone for a slog and not got anything on it but fortunately it has missed the stumps.
38.1 1 Easton to Cuss
Gently played to long on for a single.

End of Over 38: 224-0, runrate=5.89
Robson 9-0-58-0
Cuss* 113 (93 balls)
Bridge 96 (141 balls)

37.6 . Robson to Bridge
Lovely shortish ball in the channel just outside off stump, has a dabble at it, looking to run it away to third man, the away movement does him, through to Shepherd
37.5 . Robson to Bridge
gently worked around to mid on

Same sort of irritating pottering about that happened in my 263-3 the other day after being 111-0 off 19 overs... grrrrrrrrrrrr

Really frustrating when the run rate goes backwards despite not losing any wickets, especially when I've got a guy who scored 124* off 83 last week sitting in the dressing room. I've got no idea why he's scoring so slowly - he's on very attacking. My theory is that it is influenced by stamina, but both he and Cuss have competent stamina. Both batsmen are cautious as well, but it doesn't appear to affect Cuss. Maybe Bridge gets tired quicker from supposedly being 'very attacking'... 8-)

246/0 after 41, Cuss 129* off 101, Bridge 102* off 151. Hopefully he'll throw his wicket away after getting his ton like he did last time he batted (100 off 147).

326/2 in the end, a solid 92 off the last ten overs. Cuss topscoring as usual, 141 off 108 balls, bringing his season tally to an even 500 runs off 430 balls at an average of 250. Bridge managed an agonising 112 off 156, his second slow century in a row, but fortunately got out in time to let Gillespie do a bit of damage. Gillespie 38* off 23 and Berry 19* off 18.

Decent total but a win is far from secured, given that bowling is my weakness and batting their strength. Taking a gamble by allowing Oddy to open the bowling for the first time - only averages 35, but keeps it reasonably tight compared to my other bowlers (ER 4.39) so hopefully will complement Gillespie well with the new ball. Pushed my second-best bowler back to three to keep the middle overs under control. My fourth bowler is a mediocre spinner, playing him in place of a woefully out-of-form respectable fast bowler; hopefully that won't backfire.
