Looks like some nice pops for you lot.

Not much for me...

Mayo has progressed to Competent bowling (Resp cons) -- as planned, it took only one week. He was a YP I think, who's been hanging around the Withington pavilion for a while. Hopefully, he'll fetch me £100k or so -- listed for £111,111.

Fish, my WK/bat trainee, has gone up to Strong batting (with Comp conc) -- he's now good enough to make the side for his batting alone, as well as being my most highly skilled keeper. He is pretty low on stamina, but that's being trained as well.

Oh, and finally, please can someone explain to a Luddite, in words of one syllable, what exactly that Egg U19 bloke has done wrong?
Right. Eggy. What he was doing was trying to "hack" into restricted areas of the site by typing special codes and the like as part of the URL. It's kind of like all the "newreply.php?do=newreply&p=1240614" stuff that you see when browsing these forums, replying to posts, etc.

Anyway, if you're smart and determined enough, I suppose you can get into GM-only areas of the site, etc. No doubt the BTs make every effort to close these loopholes, but they do exist.

From what I understand, Eggy has been warned several times over, and has generally sailed close to the wind on the conferences -- did you know that he's managed something like three times as many posts as the next most frequent poster in the recent past? I think it was five times as many threads started, too.

Not that there's anything wrong with being active on the conferences, of course -- the problem is that a number of Eggy's posts might have been a bit dodgy.

Love him or loathe him, he's gone. Hopefully it won't harm the U19s.

Just looked at Eggy's profile - he's had fourteen official warnings/bans for various offences prior to this final one. Can't exactly say he's been hard done by.

I've decided to write this season off -- I'll sink to Div III, but hopefully be able to rebuild for a season, having taken my current side (plus Verma, who got sold off earlier this season) to 2nd (or was it 3rd) in Div II.

My early season plan of selling Brooker and getting in a uberbowler just isn't good enough, as I clearly need to upgrade both batting AND bowling.

So, I'm going to try and do a bit of skill trading -- I'm looking to pick up two Superbs or thereabouts for £4.5M combined and train them up to Quality, hopefully selling for £7-8M (again, total) next season.

Does that make sense?

I thought it did. Then I looked at the transfer market yesterday. Anything like a rounded Superb is going for £3M+! Admittedly, they were mostly optimistic starting prices, but that's crazy money!

Maybe I'd be better off getting three Strongs and selling at Superb?

Decisions, decisions...

Seems I've had a few pops...

Anshul Rampaul - 17 yo, BT Rating=4,405
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, abysmal batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A defensive player with abysmal leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: mediocre
Batting: worthless Concentration: worthless
Bowling: competent Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: abysmal

Shaun Hislop - 18 yo, BT Rating=5,141
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A steady player with mediocre leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: competent Concentration: competent
Bowling: worthless Consistency: worthless
Fielding: abysmal

Does anyone have any suggestions for what nets I should have Rampaul on? I've currently got him on two bowling and one fielding net.

Check out Everton_aggro, my opponents tomorrow. I've never seen a team with so many good players (going on wages at least) who under-perform so badly.

Bowling-wise they have two spinners with wages of £12K and £16K, and they're pulling a Prof spin rating! The £16K guy is averaging over fifty! Possibly even worse than that is the fact that even with a Rem RF, their seam rating fluctuates between Med and Comp. Similarly with the batting, They have two Strongs and a Qual, which translates to ratings of Med/Woe!

There must be some truly toilet secondaries in there somewhere?

...or they might have trained secondaries up to Exquisite+, without primaries to match.

This is so ****, i should have killed this team, their bowling ratings are resp-med and they took Hiller and Hocking for nothing, so pissed off.

31.4 W	Gigaba to Beaumont
Beaumont pulls out the 1 wood and goes for the big drive. Unfortunately for him he hasn't made the ladies' tee and is caught at mid off by Govender. Out.
Gigaba, his best bowler gets Naylor'd

Code:
33.6 4	Gigaba to Naylor
Delicious follow through as the ball races for four, his dad would be proud of that one.
33.2 6	Gigaba to Naylor
They will be needing a new ball, no hope finding it. Huge hit for six by Naylor
33.1 4	Gigaba to Naylor
Over the bowler's head and just short of six.
If only Naylor could bowl.

Funny that i could only manage 14 off his first 6 overs, then my resp-med batter hits him for that in one over.

Hells bells! How did he get to that? Brilliant fielding of the highest order from Skipper in the slips, Wire applauds as he wanders back to the pavilion.

Respectable seam bowling on PAN, so thats good. Maybe batting Hiller at 4 is what lost me the match, but still i should have bowled him out on a cracked pitch. Wikus took 4 wickets in his 10 (bowling through) and at the end of the innings they were 5 down. I think i need another bowler.
