Well, arseburgers. Lost by five wickets after a stupid collapse; lost my last seven wickets for 15 runs. Humph. Still second in the league, but this was one I'd hoped to put away, and might have but for the daft singles-taking at the end of my innings.

Anyone had any experience using GFI from a low TFL? I've got something like four TIE matches in a row now that I could've used to recover, but thought GFI-ing from low might result in an even worse performance, so didn't risk it. Any thoughts?

I haven't seen anything to suggest GFI-ing from low would result in a worse performance. I GFIed from moderate at the start of the season and got a performance boost.

Yep, not quite the beating I was hoping for at 33-4 but it should put me top on NRR in what will be a very strange looking league table...
My league table's not quite what I expected, either:

Code:
1. Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI 4 4 0 0 16 7.14
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Withington Wonderers 4 3 0 1 12 6.01
3. Inter Yerma 4 3 0 1 12 4.42
4. Sherwood CCC 4 3 0 1 12 1.30
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Wonderboys III 4 1 0 3 4 -2.54
6. Bowled Over 4 1 0 3 4 -5.76
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. darker horses cc 4 1 0 3 4 -7.72
8. highton 4 0 0 4 0 -2.85
highton won it last season, but are doing absolutely dismally this time out.

I've got Boycott's and Yerma next up - after those, I should have a pretty good idea about whether I'll be involved in the title challenge.

Expected loss today, went down by 164 runs.

Managed to get £2.5m for Drummond, though, so now have around £3-3.5m that I'm looking to spend on a bowler. Any ideas/advice on what I can get?

The Gurs surrendered meekly, to end our interest in the title race. Instead we must look to the other end of the table, with only NRR separating positions three to six, with a 2:2 split.

Hoveshire Hawks - 307/5, Neville 140 (138), Lees 81 (89), Bridges M 2/53, Bewers 2/55, Wilde a shocking debut of 0/89.

Cymru Gurgitaters - 234 A/O (48.3) Patel 105 (145), Noon 38 (37), Greening 38 (41), Staveley 33 (32), Curns 5/28.

We looked, if not set, certainly still in the match at 210/2 after forty, but somehow managed to lose our last eight wickets for sixteen.

And the gamble of switching Cash and Noon around in the order didn't pay off either, the middle order dropped to Comp, but the top order stayed at Prof, although that could also be to do with our free-falling confidence.

It's going to be hard work this time out!

Off to battle the snow, Later, Trev

Probably a Quality. Are you likely to have £5M before the end of the season? Do you have any nets free?

I just don't think it's worth buying a player at the £3M mark right now, unless you're pushing for promotion. Instead, I'd consider getting two or three young Proficients and training them up to Strong, then selling them for a mint and upgrading at the end of the season. Alternatively, with £3M, you could probably get two young Strongs, train them up to Superb, and get £5M or so back.

I just wish I had the cash :(

If you got a quality it'd probably be a bad one. Realistically you'd be looking at good superbs (superb-superb with competent+ stamina type players). I agree tho, players around that amount are a bit of a waste - unless you've nets free and intend training them. Trainable 19-20 yr olds will barely go for more than similar skilled 23-26 yr olds. Other than that you can go Mahindho's route and build up your stash.

Heading towards a probable loss as expected, I didn't really think I'd be able to get away going in to this match a player short. Might have a chance if Cuss and Whitehorne (no. 7) hang around for a little bit. Boeta manages to play a lot of these 20 off 50 type knocks when I set him to very attacking.

End of Over 31: 130-3, runrate=4.19, reqrunrate=6.00 (243-10)
Bunt 9-1-30-0
Cuss* 60 (93 balls)
Boeta 22 (55 balls)
Last Wicket: Baird c & b. Dickson 3 (FOW: 76/3)

Bowling was pretty crap, Harewood 0-74 in particular. Whitehorne took wickets off his last four balls to gloss over the fact that his 8-39 was pretty ordinary, got hit for three fours in an over at one stage. Baird was surprisingly good for a destructive strong/med, 1-31 off 10.

Got lucky today. My opponent, runners-up last season, stuffed up orders and an abysmal bowler got slogged about by Lester. He ended up with one for 94, Lester and Herbert put on 195 for the first wicket, and we made 328 for eight. Harris and Tuck then skittled them for 67

Won my game yesterday thanks to a classic BT collapse. My opponent was cruising home pretty easily before it.

They needed 32 off 30 with 6 in hand, then 20 off 24 with 5 in hand. Wildsmith then took a hattrick, and they eventually lost by 13 runs.

I won my very important league match! Against what I classify now as the 2nd top team :)
