Got to see him play live at Blake Park (now Bay Oval) for Auckland against ND in the mid-90's after Sri Lanka won the WC. Simon Doull tried to bounce him and was dispatched to the boundary. That season he also set the record for fastest Shell Cup century taking apart Geoff Allott who was equal top wicket taker at the 99 World Cup a few years later. One of the best players of the short-ball I've seen.
