was thinking more Victor Trumper myself
Nah, Trumper was the best of his time and literally averages more than anyone else back then alongside Hill. It just was a really low scoring era where getting consistent runs was very hard.

Amarnath, alongside being really Great times while being bang mediocre most often; had a really long career but missed a fair few games, was the 2nd best batter of his team and was dependent on not getting his home conditions to perform. Their overall averages (27 and 42) are also quite equivalent.

Nothing in cricket felt like edge of the seat stuff for me , except for peak Johnson from 2013 to 2014. Also would like to include Johnson during South Africa tour in 2009, thundering stuff.

You felt nervous before every ball even as a neutral fan.
