Mark Taylor to be inducted into the Hall of Fame tonight.

For mine, the Hall of Fame should be very exclusive. The province of the creme-de la - creme. To that end, I don't think Tubs belongs. He averaged just 42 with the bat and, although praised for his tactical nouse, never actually won a series on the subcontinent or against South Africa. He had, at his disposal Warne, McGrath, and the best years of the Waugh boys.

I make him sound like a useless prick! He certainly wasn't that. Just not worthy, IMO, of Hall of Fame status.
Pretty sure he won a series in Pakistan around '98..

EDIT : He has won a series in South Africa as well.

At the time, didn't do his popularity any harm declaring overnight when he was level with The Don's highest score...

Philistine. Do not attack the greatness that is Mark Taylor. Much better than the rubbish that is the openers around today in world cricket. :@

Quote from the Fox Sports live blog:

Some are finding it harder to let Hodgey go than it is to set a tennis ball free while you're wearing a pair of velcro gloves. Goodness me. He ain't coming back, folks, he's gone to a better place. I would love to see Ian Harvey back playing, but it's not going to happen

Watto!

As good as Watson is, for some reason I don't feel that he will every be considered an all-time great, and I can't put my finger on why. Perhaps if he converted all his 50's to hundreds...

So if we go by that, David Hussey was more useful to the Australian cricket team (as a whole) than Ricky Ponting.
