All-Time Zimbabwe XIs - A re-run

Still think he's the best option here. If others disagree, he won't make the team!
He ofcourse is, very easily. But a Test cap is the qualifying criteria. He alongside Kevin Curran, Duncan Fletcher, Paddy Clift and Brian Davidson can feature in the uncapped XI (will make one as well).

You are the expert on African FC cricket here, but doesn't Swart count as a Saffa? Also thought of Trevor Penney and Ryan Higgins as good shouts. There are really quite a few all-rounders there.

African FC cricket aficionado indeed. 😁

Yeah I guess Swart, Bentley and Clift moved to SA/England and never looked back to Zimbabwe as home. Hence Swart and Bentley playing for SA Rebels. Heron also may have played for SA Rebels but he was at the 1983 WC with Zim.

Good shout on Penney (much like Hick from the 80s into the 90s on what could have been). Is Higgins the current county player who rejected the chance to play for Zim?

True on the all-rounder excess. I guess I would then go for Howie Gardiner (famous for keeping to Kaschula/Du Preez/Traicos) as the frontline keeper or get a bit of extra pace with Hogg.

Yes Higgins is quite a fine County player. I think a player born is Zimbabwe should count given they never played for another Test playing country, and I would extend it to the Rebel matches probs. I mean, Doescharte made the SA uncapped XI, so think Clift and Higgins are fine, and Heron even played ODIs for Zimbabwe; while I would count Swart for SA.

Now please vote for:
A) The wicketkeeper. If you want Flower to keep then another batsman.
B) Another bowler
C) The no 6/7 batter to complete the team.

Sikander Raza

If Taylor gets selected then Flower keeps

Taylor keeps. I’ve probably stacked the batting too much and should have selected Ervine or Blignaut. Raza would not make my test first XI but he absolutely would in white ball.

Masakadza bowled little medium dobblers if they need a fourth seamer. Not too dissimilar to Ervine or Whittall's bowling.

Neil Johnson (Flower keeps)
Rawson (seems madness to me that Mallie Jarvis can be picked but Rawson can't!)

Brendan Taylor (it is tough on Taibu, but Taylor, Houghton, and A Flower can share the gloves).

Kyle Jarvis

Sean Williams

Lots of allrounders and will bat deep
