All time world ODI XI game

Having a 15 year career as an accumulator probably has something to do with the numbers there. His strike rate is not as good when considering the era he batted in and he almost never scores at over a run a ball. I don't think he's even in the top 5 ODI batsmen from Sri Lanka to warrant a place in a world third XI.
Not necessarily as a batsman but as a wicketkeeper bat there's no better choice other than Dhoni and gilchrist.

Yeah, his one redeeming factor is that he's pretty decent with the gloves. Personally I'd much rather have the likes of McCullum or QdK in this format as they're more useful, but I can see why some people might not vote for them.

I agree QdK has the potential to overtake him in near future, but right now, Sanga is the best option.

And I have no idea how Kapil got anywhere near the first XI. He wasn't as good as Klusener or Imran or even Pollock.
If you think Kapil doesn't add more to an ODI team as an AR, particularly over Imran or Pollock, you probably didnt see him bat.

I used to think this too but the last World Cup changed by opinion on him.

Also regarding Vaas, economy rate is important and so is the opening bowling partnership. I wanted Lee in this team and I figure a left arm quick who keeps it tight is ideal. In hindsight Hadlee should have been considered, I forgot him but as soon as I picked Lee it ruled out a few guys who could go for runs.

de Kocks current form and injury really isnt good timing for this exercise. Say he plays and scores a few 100s in this series and he probably makes this spot. Now it feels a bit too soon to know if he had a great run or if he is the real deal.

geez I'd have had sanga in just for his batting. The bloke was a gun ODI batsman who carried his team for much of his career.

Bolo

State Captain
A reasonable argument to be made that swapping Imran for any quick other than Akram would strengthen both teams? The B team don't really need his batting with power all the way down the order. But he'd be handy in the A team to hang around with the last man standing in the event of a collapse.

Hadlee and Waqar go thru comfortably and Sanga is unanimous apart from one vote for BMac.

Sanga will slot in at #3 seeing as that's where he spent his career.

Donald

Watson

Gonna go with Watto here purely for his bowling ability. Solves the all rounder problem quite neatly as well.

Donald the best first change bowler and best bowler who hasn't already been picked. Disgrace he didn't make the first or second XI.
