The Maltese lad getting out "hit the ball twice" is just surreal though. My understanding is a batter can only be dismissed if he tries to take a run after hitting it twice? Must've either had a brain fart or flat out didn't know the rules.
Watch a cricket game involving Malta and it makes sense

I've been looking for footage of the hitting the ball twice incident.

Does anyone know if footage exists?

Kinda puts Bairstow's run out into perspective.

Proper dick move from Shakib. Yeah, it's in the rules, but it's eff all to do with any cricket skill.

It is the most disgraceful behaviour. Shame on Bangladesh.

There's nothing in the law for HTB2 about trying to take a run*: "The striker is out Hit the ball twice if, while the ball is in play, it strikes any part of his/her person or is struck by his/her bat and, before the ball has been touched by a fielder, the striker wilfully strikes it again with his/her bat or person, other than a hand not holding the bat, except for the sole purpose of guarding his/her wicket."

*except later on where it notes that, if you lawfully hit the ball twice (i.e. to stop the ball hitting the stumps) and then try to take a run, the run doesn't count (but nor will you be given out HTB2).

I note Shakib will now sit out Bangladesh's next game with a busted finger.

Seems the cricketing gods find their own way of balancing the ledger.
