Akram's Inswinger to Ponting

Actually Akram has made many stupid comments as a player. Ponting was clearly stupid when he made that statement, but for Akram to make that statement after Bangladesh's win makes him opportunistic and even more stupid because Ponting never questioned BD's ODI status.

Wasim lost all my respect when he moaned about the ICC being run by "whites"

And to be fair to Ponting, he was talking about test cricket.. And Bangladesh haven't shown that they can consistantly bat for more than 50 overs..

The point is the improvement. They have improved immensly during the last 2 years. And this improvement would have never come if they were not playing test cricket. You won't know swimming unless you go to water. But it seems people like Ponting and many other stupid does not want any other country to play and improve their cricket. They are just happy to see just eight countries playing good cricket. I will be more than happy to see some day Nepal beating the *** of India, South Africa or even Australia. But alas, this won't be possible, since they want to keep this game among themselves, they don't want any other team to come to the arena.

i doubt if playing test cricket had a lot to do with their improvement in the one day arena other than the fact that as a test-playing nation, you get more chances to play one dayers with the other top nations....it's playing more one day cricket that has brought about the decent improvement.....i wouldn't call it immense improvement yet....and i really don't see any noteworthy improvement in tests whatsoever.....the way bangladesh was snuck into the test arena had a godawful stink to it and they haven't really done much performance-wise to cover up that smell in the years since...

Unfortunately Ponting somehow got bat on the inswinger french cutting the ball to the boundary.

Waqar speaks more sense than both Akram or Ponting :p

Now on the comment "Ponting, you just keep your mouth shut".... to be quite fair to him I reckon he said that in Urdhu and thats how the translation to English turned out as... trying to translate from one language to another word for word can change a lotta things

Your wrong mate. Even my 2 yr old nephew can speak more sense then Waqar, it seems that in international matches he brings his A-grade commentry because his commentary in the ongoing domestic 20/20 been awfull at best.

A Sample
"Top edges are safe if the batsman edges them with control"

There are many people, players, writers, fans, around the world who have been writing/speaking against the dilution of standards in test cricket. Many on CW have similar opinions,

One may agree or disagree with whether BD and Zimbabwe should be removed from test playing sides but to make it appear as if it has something to do with colour/countries or religion is deplorable. Anyone who imputes such motives to an argument does grave harm to cricketing worlds harmony and also exposes his own leanings.

Its possible that some of it is due to translation hazards but on the face of it, Akram's reaction appears a bit too strong and personal.

Now thats great commentary :p, in the recent series i immensely enjoyed his commentary compared to Rameez and Arun Lal, it was at least hilarious. Arun Lal and Rameez were god awful. A sample, in the 3rd or 4th ODI Rana Naved was hit for a four by Yuvraj and this is what Waqar had to say

"It was short, wide and said hit me...so he hit him"

Its more funny the way Waqar said it.
