Afridi vs Jayasuriya (ODI bowling)

Another Afridi thread.
Both were monster hitters of the ball. Probably among the strongest men among people with their physique. Both were magnificent fielders.

This is about the ODI bowling.

Afridi 395 @ 34.5, ER 4.62
Jayasuriya 323 @ 36.75, ER 4.78

Afridi was mainly a middle overs bowler while Jayasuiya did middle overs and death overs both. Both of them had a faster dart which they beat batsmen for pace.

Who is better?

Afridi was a specialist quality ODI bowler. I.e. he wasn't just a bat making up the overs, I'm picking him for Pakistan, even if he's batting at #9. He could spear it in, toy with batsmen, good googly and quicker one. His leg break just didn't have quite the rip and turn one would ideally want, but in ODI's don't think it slowed him down as much as it would hamper him as a Test bowler.

Afridi in his later years was exceptionally good.

Hard decision, Jaya bowled a tight line, length, flat, wicket to wicket, very handy bowler, just like de Silva

However I felt Afridi was better and could get a wicket

Yes but for the first 2/3 of his career his bowling was pedestrian. Matured into a very decent LOI bowler.
