And Australia's stance on that would be noble, apart from the fact that, twice in world tournaments over the past year, they had the opportunity to refuse to play Afghanistan but didn't take them.

I don't see any genuine depth to this quote from our CEO, either:

"We thought that we could be more effective in advocating for women, and for women's cricket in Afghanistan by playing, then having the ability to continue to engage with the Afghanistan Cricket Board," New Zealand Cricket chief executive Scott Weenink said.
Not quite sure why you think I speak for Cricket Australia any more than I would think you speak for Cricket NZ, but you do you.

Just abandon the match, end this farce and allow NZ to head to SL a couple of days early.

The fact they couldn't get the ground right in the first 2 days when there was no rain surely suggests it's an absolutely fertile exercise from here.

Fair point.

I speak for NZC though, direct all enquiries to me.
Dear NZC, in a hypothetical situation where an international men's sports team has both controversially selected a rapist and implicitly supported the Taliban, whilst concurrently mistreating and effectively paralysing their corresponding women's team, would it (hypothetically) be indicative of a wider workplace culture problem in the executive overseeing those two teams?

Why did you steadfastly refuse to select Colin Munro?
I can't be the one to wear this one...I was Colin's first senior captain, and supported him loyally through a few trips to the club judiciary for calling people *****. No bigger fan of Colin Manu than myself

Well mate, if you want to take on the mantle of the NZC helpdesk, then you have to expect to deal with the **** that inevitably comes in your direction.

Hahaha fair enough. I'll tackle them now

To Ataraxia, "We thought that we could be more effective in advocating for women by Scott playing, then having the ability to continue to engage with women.'

Why is Southee still captain when he's past it and arguably shouldn't be in the team?
Because it's easier than having a hard conversation. We like things this way - everyone is happy, except Nathan Smith, but he'll be in the top 10 of the contract list soon when everyone above him starts handing theirs back.

In some miracle that tomorrow has a full days play, and they start early to make - let's say 100 overs - just play a odi essentially?
Paint some lines on the uncut stuff and see if you can get 4 innings in a day IMO

Or do the Hanse Cronie and both sides declare at 0-0 and the team that bats first agrees to declare at the half way point. Gives a give advantage to the batting second team though as they can give up and play for the draw of they are losing

Let's fly back to NZ to prepare for the tests against England knowing that we've just had an unbeaten series in India. We won't even lose a session.

.

"There has been more than 1200 mm of rain over seven days," the broadcaster said as the fourth day's play was abandoned. "The scale of rainfall has made it absolutely impossible for cricket today. We are going to come back on day five just in case, but the reality is there will be absolutely no prospect of play. We can't envisage anything else but an abandonment very early tomorrow morning."
