According to what they said of the regulations on this, because he retired out it didnt count
as a dismissal, so he was able to bat again. I'm impressed by his knowledge of these unusual
regulations, but it looks bad. I think for super overs retired out should count as a dismissal to
prevent this manipulation.

As Trott said, they are also figuring this out as it happens but yes, rules need tightening up and better and less vague interpretations.

one would think the icc has enough money to afford the cost of running multiple simulations both real and virtual to work out most contentious issues

Nah.. there is a lot to blame ICC for but game rules on situations that rarely happen is not one of them AFAIC. Everyone learns through experience, even the ICC rules guys.

the retired out thing isnt really a rare event tbf when chonky bois are still out there as making a living as boshers in t20 leagues in every continent

They need to fix the (lack of) deflection rule imo. Shouldn’t get free runs if a throw deflects off a batsman. Players generally speaking don’t run if it does, so why not just make it a black and white rule? It’s dumb that they saw it ruin a WC final but still do nothing about it.
