Adam Crosthwaite

Ronchi is the best of them as far as batsman go if you ask me..

I have not seen enough of his keeping but I can tell you he is a quality batsman and an exeptional striker.

If we're talking good Aussie keepers then you have to include Dawson into the mould. Things do look very promising with guys like Dawson, Ronchi, Crosthwaite and Hartley floating around the scene.
i like ur Dawson comment, i cant believe it took hat long for someone to mention him in this thread!

and don't forget he's also born in New Zealand
Whats with all of our most talented players running off to Australia and representing them (or say they want to) and be great? Bloody traitors (however Australia can keep Brendon Julien).

It's not just cricket players either. Entertainers too... Although, you can have Russel Crowe back!!

So Ronchi was a C.D man. It seems Central Districts got all talent born between 1980 & 1985.

Well...NZ probably have to pay a price for taking all the Pacific Island rugby talent.

NZ are hardly not guilty of having players born in Australia, Scott Styris and Matthew Sinclair are pretty solid....

Sinclair's mother is a New Zealander, but I think Scott Styris was fully Australian.

add lou vincent to that list, though it doesn't really matter because none of them would make the australian side, except maybe styris in ODI's - he's a much more complete player than say ian harvey

australia also took the first bowler ever to take 200 test wickets - NZ born clarrie grimmett, although admittedley NZ weren't playing a hell of a lot of cricket back then

No, he moved to Australia when he was 10 & then returned to NZ when he was 18 (or around that age anyway)

Played under-age cricket for South Australia.

Brendon Julian is another player who was born in New Zealand.

Not that i'd agree with this but there was talk in NZ recently that NZ Cricket may go head-hunting players in Australia who were either born in NZ or have NZ parents.

Obviously with so much depth in Australia, some players might consider the idea of playing for NZ.

Personally...if an overseas player wants to play for NZ, then he should approach NZC on his own terms.

Does he play cricket?
he used to and was quite good - he hit 60 odd not out once in about 30 balls, but like so many other new zealanders he gave it up to concentrate on rugby

adam crosthwaite is a very good player. and i wouldn't be comparing his brother to him all that eagerly, just quietly. i think roach is simply playing as an IOU, because he's been good enough for the past 9 years since he made his debut, its just that berry has been in the road. and roach is 29, so he still has a few years ahead of him, one would suggest. i think that vics are doing the right thing, he is only 20, giving him a taste a year or two ago, and then slowly introducing him into the first class arena.

heard he was very keen to continue to play the "lap" after the second time, had to be convinced to bat in a more orthodox fashion by the non-striker.
