Adam Crosthwaite

Remember the name. Current Victorian ING keeper. Played for my cricket club until he was 16/17, then moved to turf cricket.

Been waiting in line behind Darren Berry and he's finally got the nod in the one-day arena.

Absolute gun with the bat, too... Some compare him to a keeper/batsman with such skills as Gilchrist (although Right-handed).

He hit his first ING 50 on Friday night against Queensland, at the 'Gabba. 54 from 38 deliveries, hitting Bichel for 22 runs off one over.

He hit a 4 through the covers, then the mid-off fielder was put back and fine leg up inside the circle, then hit a scoop shot over fine legs head for 4. Bichel had a few words, something along the lines of "Do that again you little c*** and I'll f***ing kill you"... next ball, scoop shot over fine leg for 4 lol. Then charged a ball, met it on the full, hit it to a fielder on the ropes who stepped over, right in front of the ING sign, too.

He got man of the match, Victoria won by 12 runs.

Cameron White took 3 wickets and 2 belter catches off his own bowling. :D

Ahh, Queenslanders!! 8-) :D :p

Yeah, Bichel's comment must have scared poor, defenceless Crosthwaite SOOO much...

He's a promising young wicky here in W.A. Looks like he could be good, but everyone here treats him like hes a hero.

Crazy Sam

International 12th Man
he's scored runs more consistently than crosthwaite has so far.

and i think you should take the bichel comment out unless you can prove that he did in fact say it.

What happened to Bichel. Did they just decide he was getting too old to be in the aussie team or did he get injured or what?

He may have got the better of Hartley in the batting stakes in this particular match, but Hartley had him covered in the glovework department.

Hardly, I don't recall Crosthwaite missing a ball or a catch all night. Mind you, I don't recall Hartley missing any either.

To be fair Crosthwaite has oly played 7 matches annd all have been One Dayers. He's batted 4 times and been out once with a HS of 54* and an average of 57. I hardly think we can see Ronchi has been more consistent, Crosthwaites hardly got the chance to bat, and when he has he scored 54*.

I think it's great that there are 3 young keepers that will be going for Gilchrist's spot. It's hard to see who will win out as none of them are the no.1 keeper for their states. They show early promise.

Crosthwaite has been talked about before on this forum and I can't see why he's not selected above Roach in the Pura Cup. Hartley is making the most of Seccombe's injury and getting some games. he scored 50 yesterday in the Pura Cup. He has also taken some brilliant catches during the season. Ronchi may be the overrated one of the three. If he can't beat Campbell into the side then is he really that good.

The only reason he isnt getting into the Pura Cup side is because of that hundred that Campbell smacked recently.

I dont think it will be long though, but then what happens to Campbell? Where does he go? Hes surely good enough to make Pura and ING Cup sides. His batting alone would get him in to the South Australian lineup, but Im sure hed want to keep wicket-keeping, and I dont see him displacing the captain in Manou.

Well, I can, because the words were relayed from Bichel to Crosthwaite, who spoke to his dad on the phone, who then relayed it on to me, so there!

And I totally agree with "Cloete" in saying Crosthwaite hasn't had enough chances to bat. Coming in down the order doesn't help his cause seen as tho he has batted and succeeded at every other batting position in the lineup (not at ING level, at state and international junior level). He is seemingly a better gloveman than Roach, as is the word amongst the Premier Cricket leagues in Victoria, but because of Roach's experience, it gets him over the line. However, Roach is under the hammer to make runs now that Crosthwaite had staked his claim in the recent match.

I'll also mention he has a brother of equal batting and keeping qualities playing in the Richmond 2nd. and 1st. XI in Adam's absence (I've played with him before, very ****y tho I must say). I wouldn't be too surprised to see him vying for a Victorian gurnsey in the future, either.

If we're talking good Aussie keepers then you have to include Dawson into the mould. Things do look very promising with guys like Dawson, Ronchi, Crosthwaite and Hartley floating around the scene.

Crazy Sam

International 12th Man
sounds like a game of chinese whispers there!!

The problem with Hartley is that he scores his runs far too slowly, although his 50 yesterday was a marked improvement on some of his other innings. the century he scored last year was painfully slow although i admit it was his debut, and nothing like brendan nash's effort last season where, if i recall correctly, he scored 1 run off 83 balls, or perhaps no runs of 83 balls or so. It was something like that but dreadfully slow, although I think Nash went on to make a fairly large score.
