Academy series

[The Argonaut]

Just some details as to what the academy series format will be for this season. I already have a squad of 115 players. I will add to this up to 60 players from the rookie list. I will also add to this group some real life rookie players from existing club sides. Examples would be Rikki Clarke from Surrey and Scott Brant from Queensland. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

From this squad I will cull it down to 160 players. There is some dead wood already in the existing list so it should be hard. All rookies will be part of this 160.

The 160 will be put evenly into 8 teams of 20 or 10 teams of 16. Random pitch conditions will be selected for each team and a home and away season of either 14 or 18 rounds will commence. A four day and a one day game will be played each round. I will try and post one round per week. All rookies will be given every opportunity to play in these games with a guarantee that they will play at least 75% of the matches.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

there are a couple of players i can think of i would like included.
M.Cosgrove and youngster from SA with a big future, jack Smith, a former ACT player now with SA and Graeme Cunningham, another former canberra player now with tasmania. He has a farily good List A record i think, averages around the 40 mark.

I would think 10 teams of 16 to be better than 8 of 20, since more players will be involved each week.

Its not garaunteed that all 60 rookies will be in the Academy series Jason as some managers have already stated they would like to keep theirs in their squad but what ill do is pm all managers in the next day or 2 to see what they are doing and i assume by monday you'll have the final details...

I think some young players from everywhere in the world must be added and all the crap players who are there from 1st season shl be removed.This will make the teams more realistic otherwise a time will come when all the teams will have generated players only.

All the players in the academy who are above 30 shl be removed and who have very bad avg.All these players i have stated have decent avg.

I am ready to help to compile the vc stats of other players also if i get their names as i dont know good youth players from England and Australia.

i think some players should be re-averaged, im talking about players that suck in the game (very few games etc) , but are heaps good in real life, players liek Nathan Pilon (though i dont think he played this season - just topped sydney grade runs)

Nibblet, agemaster and Aditya could you let me know which state or province sides these guys play for. If they play for Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka or Colts then I will add them. If not they will be left out.

I imagine I will be culling 20-30 players from the existing pool.

As for who gets who in the end that will be left to the end of season draft.

He most defiently was, he was the clubs (and country) 2nd highest wicket taker just behind fellow team mate M.Saggers in real life, and I very much regret lossing him.

I Have checked out the ones mentioned above and only A Salvi and T Samaraweera make the cut for reasons explained earlier. My current list of real life rookies now includes:

R Clarke (Surrey), S Brant and C Perren (Qld), J Anderson (Lancs), M Clark and S Marsh (WA), D Bollinger (NSW), X Doherty (Tas), S Tait and M Cleary (SA), A Salvi (Mumbai) and T Samaraweera (Colts).

I won't be adding M Cosgrove, G Cunningham, I Flanagan, B Casson, S Jurgensen or B Oliver as their stats aren't good enough. I will give them more time to improve so they may be considered after next season.

If there are any more to consider please get them to me by Monday. Thanks to all who have already responded.

I disagree here - those players are now in the game, and as such don't bear as much resemblance to real life players.

If you're resetting players, where do you draw the line, because I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind having some of their players reaveraged, but that's against the spirit of the thing.

Could Rajagopal Satish please be added to the academy series with TN??? he is a good all-rounder on the fringe of the current TN 1st team. he is only 22 so his averages would need to be generated. as he has only played a few games. would this be possible?
