Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

Seeing Ben Curran opening for Zimbabwe, it's obviously not going to happen, but if England picked Sam, you'd have 2 brothers playing Test Cricket against each other. I'm wondering if this had ever happened before?

I knew of the Hearne brothers but it looks like their paths never crossed.

Prabath Jayasuriya took 7 5W hauls and 2 4W hauls in his first 10 Test matches. Is there anyone with more fifers than him in first 10 matches?

I think Harry and Albert Trott came close. Harry played his last test just before Albert played his first for England.

Equal to him on 7

Sydney Barnes
Clarrie Grimmett

Had a feeling I knew of one, it's not Tests, but Ed Joyce played against Dom Joyce in an ODI. Dom only played 3 ODI's, so it was quite cool that one was against Ed.

I also like that Dom opened the batting and was out to a 3 ball duck, with the score on 10!! Harmy dishing up two lots of 5 wides before hitting his stumps.

3 of those Tests were against Ireland (2) and Afghanistan (1). Despite playing against minnows, his bowling average is in excess of 30. No so impressive.

I expect a few of the rest were on very helpful home wickets against hapless touring SENA batsmen. It's still an achievement though. Could probably say something similar about Philander except as a pacer/greentop merchant.

And trying to come up with the batsman equivalent for this was a little annoying since everything there is measured in innings instead.

But from what I can tell we have a 3 way tie for first with

Bradman
Headley
Harvey

all with 6 tons in their first 10 matches.

Bunch of people on 5 including Mendis.

Note that for Harvey he scored 6 tons in 9 matches to start his career, then 15 tons in his next 70 matches.

Notably all 3 of them actually achieved 6 tons in their 9th match.

Did they all 6 batted the same no of innings in their first 10 matches?

Until Ww2 broke out, George had 10 tons in 19 tests. What might have been.....

Steve Smith is the don bradman of first innings.

He only needs 147 runs to become the leading run scores in the first innings.
Most likely he will cross Sachin in the WTC final.

So good that 4 Aussies make the top 6 on this list

There a few English ones including Cowdrey, Cox, Gunn, Hardstaff, Parks.

Father and son James and Jim Parks 21369 + 36673 = 58042. Add grandson Bobby = 61999.

Colin and Chris Cowdrey 42719 + 12252 = 54971. Add father Ernest, second son Graham and grandson Fabian = 64237.

Hardstaff father and son = 48993. With grandson 49050.

Vic Richardson + 3 Chappell grandsons = 48264.
David and Jonny Bairstow - 13961 + 14319
Alan and Mark Butcher - 22267 + 17870

With the Comptons it skipped a generation with Denis's 38k followed 60 or so years later with Nick's 12k. Another grandson Ben is a prolific scorer at Kent and is on just over 5k aged 31.

Someone else can do the maths, but Hanif and Shoaib Mohammad as father and son, plus Hanif's brothers Mushtaq and Sadiq all passed 10k and some
