Abhishek Nayar

Batting FC avg of 44 is nothing great in Indian conditions. I have seen him bat enough to know that he has technique holes which need to be filled up, particularly against balls pitched short. He is very good against balls pitched up and full, mind.
Every indian domestic batsman has that fault. Look at Suresh Raina, his weakness against the short stuff is documented, but the 1 bouncer per over rule bails him out. Raina would never make a test class batsman unless he rectifies that. Perhaps same with Nayar. But he plays the pull better than Raina.

Also, how many batsmen in Indian dom cricket has an average of 44 batting at No. 6 or No. 7?

And what about his bowling? He can make it to my best domestic team just based on that.

He wont come near my national side, that's for sure because, I repeat for the nth time, his technique is not honed up.

I say if Dhoni can, anyone can. technique is secondary ever to performances. As long as he gets runs and wickets, I dont and selectors wont care a damn for picking him.

Dhoni's technique is decent which is different to Nayar's technique.

No it isnt. That explains Dhoni's mediocre record in test match cricket. He overcomes his unrectifiable technical glitches with sheer improvisation. Nayar's miles better than Dhoni in terms of technique.

So I take it this guy was Precambrian again?

Seriously, how many multiple accounts does this guy make and then gives away the clues so easily? He still keeps acting like an idiot though and never changes his posting style at all. He doesn't seem to learn either and he still keeps coming back.

Anyways, Abhishek Nayar had a pretty good match and looks like a talented young player. Give him some time in the domestic season and who knows he might be a useful T20 or ODI player. He certainly can't be worse than Yusuf Pathan at this stage. After a good start I'll be interested to see how he goes this year in the IPL.

I don't mind this, though he should finish another FC season with runs and wickets. He's a lot more useful in the Test team, as a middle/lower order batsman who can bowl steady seam-up to support Zaheer and Ishant. They can then play both spinners everywhere, which is best. In ODIs, it's a tight issue, as Yusuf hasn't been that bad that he can be replaced so soon, as Dhoni isn't using him enough. I have no issue with Nayar in ODIs, but they need to let Yusuf settle in the team, as he's a lot more relevant. Nayar doesn't have the best OD stats either. He's not cut out for T20 as a bowler, and may end up playing as a specialist slogger if nothing is done.

I don't think he is good enough to merit a place in our ODI side...but it was great to see him own Flintoff the way he did.

One good match and this thread already...this is why the IPL annoys me.
Actually, we should see how all Indian all-rounder prospects stack up against each other, what they can do to improve and benefit the team, and who should make the cut.

True, I was analysing the teams pre game for betting and I really didn't figure on Flintoff getting hammered anything like that, I was anticipating maybe 1/26 off 4 overs, not 1/44! Don't think I've ever seen him hit like that, maybe Gilly at Adelaide. Still won though!

Stil,l one swallow doesn't make a summer.

Not a bad idea keeping track of Indian allrounder prospects in these conditions.
