Amla is better than AB against swinging balls. Against spin and seam, Both are equal.
Against raw pace and uneven bounce, AB seems better.
I will pick AB as he is better white ball player.

Amla's peak was better than ABD and his trough are worse than ABD.

ABD had potential to be Ponting level if not for early retirement.

10k runs in both formats was there for taking and his runs in final years would have been of so much more value.

In white ball, ABD is well ahead.

Can't agree with that Amla peak was better. Amla peaked in the period 2008 to 2014. AB was marginally better or equal in that period as well statistically. AB has better stats in a batting collapses as well. In fact best among the SA batsmen.

Amla's peak was 2010-2014. Rest points I agree though.

Additionally, ABD kept wickets at peak of his career otherwise he could have averaged much more in those two years, because he was at prime of his career. We have seen players average 75-80 in their peak 1-2 years.

Two quality players, Amla won't get the credit he deserves due to his average skydiving towards the back end of his career but its still a part of his career, AB was a brilliant player who walked away on top of his game, I have to edge it to AB
