A strange call for SC Umpires in SC conditions

If they pay the members $70m out of that $84m then all they will do is reduce the amount they pay the members so they can pay for the DRS.

$7.7m went to associates plus there was a $3m deficeit from last year and then you have to pay the umpires, anti corruption and a host of other committees. Its not like the ICC make profits and put it in the bank, it all goes into running cricket and whats left is distrubuted to the members.
The BCCI who inject the most money into the ICC are the ones who dont want to use the DRS because they dont want to end up paying for it.
Common sense tells you if SL and Pak cant make money from playing a series why on earth would you increase the cost of that series. Cricket will go broke and all teams will suffer if you make the cost of hosting a match more expensive than the amount of money it returns.

If Umpiring was so easy that one just watches the ball and decides where it's going to end up, then everybody could be great umpires; I'm afraid so is not the case. Definitely pitch judgement and conditions understanding are required. Not saying there is all merit in Rameez's argument but a thought to look at

For the ECB and Cricket Australia, I'd imagine it's close to bugger all as all the technology used by DRS was already used by Sky and Channel 9.

Isn't there a system whereby umpires umpire FC games overseas anyway. I think that'd give them an idea of the pitch conditions, either that or they could ask Boycs to stick his key in the pitch.

Maybe more training in certain conditions is warranted for all umpires if the decision rate in certain countries is not as high as it is in others. It makes sense that someone who officiated in Mumbai for 15 years might have some trouble in Perth at first, and vice versa.
I would be completely and utterly against any and all use of non-neutral umpires for any reason though.
