How was Gumbleton against my mob Mike? Heard he was quite good.
Snagged a couple, took 8 marks pretty good considering his limited AFL experience.

Hooker looks set for a big season, massive pre-season BOG against Richmond. Reminds me of Kepler Bradley with talent.

I'm just wondering, why don't AFL clubs take the route of soccer and American sporting clubs/franchises and put the players surname on the back of their jersey with the number? I suppose it doesn't matter for the regular AFL fans in Victoria, WA etc., who know who is who, but for n00bs like me who are trying to get into the sport and learn who is who etc., it would make life a lot easier.

I'm starting to get a bit embrassed having to ask a friend of mine which player is which, I mean he doesn't care too much, but I think one day he will tell me to GAGF. So I'm considering printing off player lists or do something so I know which player is which.

Mind you, considering how upset some no name irrelevant Fitzroy supporters got when Brisbane wanted to change the emblem/colours, it would probably be the same.
Footywire has team lists that you can organise by number, and they keep them well up to date.

^ Lol, definitely.

Also guys we only have 7 people in the Dream Team league Casson made. Come on let's at least get 10 people we know in there!

We got anymore entries for the DT league? Think we are about 8/16 so far...the less randoms the better, though i think this year they give you the option to fill it up with 'celebrity' teams like Cowro and Jonathan Brown

I can confirm that Dustin Martin will debut tomorrow night.

And Ben Cousins will also take his place in the starting team.

Mark Thompson seems convinced that Gary Ablett Jr will sign for Gold Coast FC, because if he wanted to stay at Geelong, he would of said so by now. Now as a non Victorian n00b, if Ablett is leaving, how long will find out that is the case and what will the reaction be from the Geelong faithful? Being called a Judas Bastard would be taking it lightly?

Re: Dream Team.

Any gun rookies or former squad members who'll be regular starters this season it would pay for me to be aware of?

Help a brother out. :cool::)

Dustin Martin for sure. I've got Scully/Trengrove/Wonaemirri as emergencies but they won't be playing every week.

I would say the opposite. In the last week he's said some things which really do nothing other than put pressure on Ablett, so it sounds like Thompson is worried about losing his best player and doing all he can to make him sign on again.

I don't know that Ablett would become a Judas if he left - he's given them many of the best years of his career, a la Judd, and if his leaving were to facilitate compensation for Geelong that saw them remain competitive for years to come, then that's all the more to thank him for. There'd be a pretty even spread of people who saw it both ways, if the Judd experience is anything to go by.

I think the fear is that we won't get any compensation, if he is out of contract? That would see him being regarded somewhat differently than if we managed to get draft picks, etc.

Barlow will probably score heavily but heaps of options in the midfield, I have 3 rookies starting cos there's not a lot elsewhere and there are solid options that are likely to play every game if fit (Barlow, Trengove, Martin etc).

Gumbletons a decent bet up forward, if he's fit they'll play him.

Yarran's breakthrough game. Betts was bloody good and Setanta in the second half was awesome. Bit of a boring game, though the crowd was great.
