Think the coaching additions have a lot to do with it as well, adding Tudor & Brown and having Ling do some part time work, there aren't many excuses if we don't perform.

No doubt I'm late on this issue, but what's the deal with the new preseason format? It's just a bunch of practice games dressed up like a "pre-season competition" so they can put a sponsor's name on it basically?

Yep.
The 18 games in 18 days should be good from a television point of view though.
Not sure how I'm going to cope watching that and the Block.
