As I understand, after the first strike the AFL medical officer is the only person who knows about it (other than the player himself). So judging by that, I would expect they would endeavour to get the player some help. Certainly after the 2nd strike when the club doctor finds out I would think the doc would provide some form of help.Yeah, I've got no problem with benchy's approach.
Does the AFL offer any help to the player involved? Because if it is as it stands, and the player just gets told to lift his game then that is totally ****ed.
This is why Hawthorn can't exactly dig their heels in and say that the system is flawed and that they found out when it was all too late. If the club doctor knows, it makes sense that the club would have been informed they have a player sitting on two strikes. That they may not have been able to do enough without knowing the player's name is about all they can argue.Nah Hawthorn only finds out after the 3rd I think, but it should work the way I said.
the club doctor is notified after the 2nd strike but must keep the identity of the player confidential.
Tuck suspended for 12 weeks, but can play VFL after 8.
Apparently has depression.
RICHMOND forward Jack Riewoldt collected his second medal in five days when he was awarded Richmond's best-and-fairest on Wednesday night.
Riewoldt, 21, pipped his captain Chris Newman by six votes, with 210, to claim his first Jack Dyer medal.
Brett Deledio, aiming for a third win in a row, was third with 193 votes.
Riewoldt, who won the John Coleman medal as the AFL's leading goalkicker (78 goals) hit the front in the vote count in Round 9 and stayed there through 10 rounds of voting before being overhauled by Newman in Round 19.
But a seven-goal haul against his cousin Nick's St Kilda team in Round 21 put the Tasmanian back in front, where he remained.
Riewoldt's stellar season was highlighted by a stunning 10-goal haul against West Coast at the MCG in Round 12.
Emerging star Dustin Martin (159), seasoned midfielder Shane Tuck (153) and Shane Edwards (151) finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Popular Riewoldt's win had the approval of all in the Crown ballroom, but the biggest cheers of the night came whenever Ben Cousins polled a vote, despite him finishing outside the top 10.
Cousins maintained a low profile during the night, declining to comment on the plight of the Hawks' Travis Tuck - brother of teammate Shane - and his 12-match suspension for returning a third positive drug test.
Describes most of our side itbt, although they don't even look good anymore....gets pretty easy roles and looks good, but he doesn't actually contribute that much to the actual winning of a game, if that makes sense.
Do not disagree with any of that. We just refuse to play him in the middle at any stage. Would love him to go in there in bursts like Hodge does.Re: Deledio, I reckon he gets off too lightly by Hardwick, and Wallace in the past. He gets pretty easy roles and looks good, but he doesn't actually contribute that much to the actual winning of a game, if that makes sense. I reckon they need to give him a bigger role, like a Luke Hodge type thing.
