A cheat is a cheat

Post sandpaper, Starc and co appear to have lost their earlier magical ability to reverse the ball at will; England are the overwhelming favourites.

It's all Smith's fault: a perusal of this thread shows that cheating is fine, there's nothing new in it, even some non-Aussies cheat etc.
But why sheepishly own up to cheating? That is such an un-Australian thing to do; what on earth was he thinking?
Sand Paper Smith gets a 'D' for that press conference, and deserves to be called SPD Smith.
I just assumed TPC was insult enough until someone wrote it out in a thread a few days ago.

My uncle used to call Graeme Smith 'TP Smith'. Short for That Poes Smith. It's Afrikaans, but you can read it phonetically and the get the English result.

It's too similar. And now it's stuck. TPC remains an insult

So far my favourite classic anti Aussie whinge was about Pakistan being robbed at Hobart in 1999. But Fuller pilch’s butt hurt goes back even earlier when Morrison was denied an lbw. My new favourite was the time some kiwi **** was bowling zephyrs and got Higgs out with a bouncer. Umpire no balled him for intimidation. How I laughed. Keep the whinges coming. I swear I’ll treat your butthurt with the respect it deserves.
bambino fast becoming my new favourite australian poster. mentally crumbling faster than a kiwi top order or a wallaby forward pack here.

His decline has been observable for a while tbh. Since he started posting at least.

Smith's comeback is going to be nothing short of fascinating. A Steve Smith average watch thread might need to be created.

You just watched pre ban Smith and knew he was the master batsman of this generation. Hope he manages to keep it above Sanga.

He's a great batsman, but surely he'll never be appointed captain again. He's far too mentally fragile for the job imho.

He's mentally strong enough as a batsman; he should do quite well when he comes back.

I don't think Smith should be captain of Australia ever again, in large part due to his failure to enforce the follow-on in Adelaide last Ashes. What a blunder that was, gave Jimmy some largely undeserved cheap wickets

That Smith was a mentally fragile captain is a canard spread by vested interests; he is mentally super strong. A cowardly captain would have got the jitters; would have decided that discretion is the better part of valour; would have asked his team to desist from going ahead with the grand sand paper stratagem.

Bullshit as usual. Plenty of mentally strong batsmen have been poor, listless, weak captains, like Tendulkar and especially Chanderpaul. That's without mentioning the dressing room war that Geoff Boycott had going on for years at Yorkshire, and he was one of the most mentally strong guys around.

Sounded like a tongue in cheek post tbh.

But yes, just because you have supreme powers of concentration as a batsman doesn't mean have a captains mentality or personality. "Mental strength" seems a rather nebulous concept much like so many other BS cricketing terms.

Batting is all Smith is strong at. He's basically a 7 year old in all other aspects of life. Giving an international captaincy/man-management job to a 7 year old doesn't sound like a great idea.
