A "Bradman" - Career Measurement

Qlder

International Regular
If only Bradman had the same benefit of just picking best sequence of tests. I mean just take out Bradman's first and last test and he then has 50 tests, 6977 runs @ 104.13 😉

It's more just using Bradman's career as a definitive length of time that people don't bicker about not being enough Tests. Bradman still the GOAT by an order of magnitude even with others being given this massive benefit of just their peak.

Slightly different speed here but Martin Crowe - 10 Dec 1984 + 52
4293 @ 54.34 during a particularly difficult era.

I think he is a guy that often gets overlooked by the non-NZ folk due to his peak falling into a 10 year period that is 1984-1994 rather than 1980s or 1990s alone.

Think older guys, especially older fast bowlers are hard done by a hard 52 Test requirement. Something around 35-40 Tests for them seems a lot more fair. Thinking of Alan Davidson and Wes Hall in particular with pretty decent length careers, but fall afoul of a "Bradman"

Don't say I've never thought of older time players.

The best I found for Sachin:

Apr 1997-Nov 2002
52 matches 5177 runs @66.37 avg, 20 100s

In a completely bowler friendly era:
Jan 1993-Dec 1999
52 matches 4683 runs @64.15 avg, 18 100s

Not sure if it his exact best as an allrounder, as the match before my cutoff he took 8 wickets etc (but will be close enough)

Hadlee:
16 Feb 1979 to 30 Nov 1988.
52 matches, 2024 runs at 31.62, and 291 wickets at 19.15
