if bangers had dawlat and hassan they'd be stronger semis prospects. teams need 3 decent pacers in england/oz/nz/sa.

mortaza and shaifuddin don't fill me with confidence. they miss taskin. still, this is nz, and bangers are a bit of a bogey team for us in odis away from home lol.

sarkar is touting the importance of wicket conservation which is good for us imo. boult and southee/henry can bowl a test length and probe away. i find nz tends to fall apart more when the oppo target someone (usually southee/henry) in the first 10 which opens the flood gates for the 5th bowler to get mowed.

I thought shaifuddin was bowling pretty good whenever he pitched it up.

Although he did bowl short at times, but looked pretty good when he pitched it up (which was fairly frequent)

Shaifuddin's alright. Mortaza is better than he displayed vs RSA.

Not the worst pace attack BD have put out in ODIs. Taskin was done in for chucking, got injured, and hasn't really been all that great since. Don't think we're missing him. Rubel's decent, but I wouldn't pick him over the current 3 quicks. Shaifuddin adds value with the bat down the order.

This BD side is alright. Probably the most balanced team we can put out. I wasn't a big fan of Shakib batting 3 with Mahmadullah all the way down at 5/6, but it's definitely working, and even Moses is adapting well to the finisher and 3rd spinner role. No changes for me. To beat NZ they just got to bat like they did vs SA, and this time hold all their catches in the field, with hopefully Mashrafe having a better day out.

Also Shakib has been a bit of a bogey player for NZ, to put it mildly.

Would expect NZ to win but wouldn't be surprised if BD did.

definitely giving this game the side eye. i'd be disappointed to lose to any subcontinent side not called india outside of the subcontinent, but they have the spin bowling and a deep batting line up to compensate for their fast bowling deficiencies.
Giving this game the side-eye for being a day-nighter too.

Will watch the replay in the morning with slight trepidation, as Bangladesh have always seemed a potential banana skin to me. Munro, no complaints for once if you feel like boosting your stats against an Asian team outside Asia.

Get up the black caps!!!

Good luck to both teams though to be fair. It's an absolute pleasure to see the bangas getting results after the events of their last visit on our soil.

Not sure choosing to chase vs BD is the best move. Yes they can implode on the field, but also if you get off to a poor start in the chase they'll be all over you. They're a confidence team on a roll, playing at the same venue back to back.

Wonder if they're using the same pitch or a new one. Either way, BD really need around 300 on the board if last game is anything to go by. Bowling under lights might mean they get Mortaza opening with the new ball, but could also mean they have to deal with dew...not sure how much of a factor that is in England at this time of the year.

**** and that's the end of Soumya

Relying heavily again on Tamim, Shakib and Mushy. Although tbf Mahmadullah and Moses are in decent touch. But yea, need 300.

Switching over to this game in the innings break of the India-SA game. Damn, WCs are fun.

Ferg bowling superbly. I think that is the best spell I've ever seen him bowl.

Didn't know anything about this Ferguson bloke but he looks like a perfect change bowler for ODIs.

Yea this is a tough passage of play here. Hope these two don't throw it away trying to score 330 again. Let's just see off the good bowling and take what we can get.
