To our Indian posters. What does Shamsi do wrong that he hasn't quite cut it at international level ?

I say that because he is still young enough to improve. He can turn the ball both ways and fairly accurate. Maybe tries too many things for test cricket but for limited overs cricket ? Maybe he just needs an extended opportunity ?

Hope so. He has been given responsibility in this 4 year cycle and just never stepped up.

My thinking is going back to the finger spinner who can bat and FIELD. Don't think he will be able hide in the squad much after the world cup. Feel he just bowls too full at times. Doesn't get the rev's and dip.

He belongs to the rare breed of chinaman bowlers. Not enough bowlers have thrived from that category. You need to be very accurate and needs to generate a lot of zip off the pitch, else you become cannon fodder for right handed batsmen with ball coming into them. Shamsi is too slow and needs to learn variations in pace along with variations in the type of delivery.
