8th Match - Afghanistan v England

It's ok, we've got our top all rounder Overton coming to the crease now, this should be a formality.

Australia might actually want England to win.

If Afghanistan win & it's a 'winner takes all' match against Afghanistan then the pressure is on.

If England win but lose to South Africa then Australia will go through regardless.

Once upon a time Adil Rashid was a capable batsman with 10 First Class centuries. What happened?

Can't wait for Buttler's positive media comments later.
If they lose this one I think we might get a more honest assessment from him today.

Despite the T20 WC win his white ball captaincy has been a flop overall. A shame for a great and likeable player individually and I think the decline on his watch is far from all on him. But it's not gone well, has it. I don't think he's going to turn it around at this point.

This game hasn't completely gone yet though...

But have you considered how funny Australia might find it

You won't see many tons celebrated less than that, but he's held the innings together when the others have been doing daft stuff.

He certainly still belongs in this team.

Daily reminder that Rashid Khan averages 41 with 30 wickets at World Cups/Champions Trophy/Asia Cup
