They dont have to be someone who will play both, but you are just not allowed to pick 5 for each form of the game and the 5 you do pick are not allowed to play 2nd XI in either form...
So basically if you don't have 5 that play both forms, you have to pick guys that play 1st in one form and don't play even 2nds in the other.

Im still pretty confused...

You choose 5 of your players to be "contracted". You may choose whoever you wish, but they won't be allowed to play in 2nd XI games. It's really simple...

The deal is that you pick five players, who can not play in the 2nds. It would make the most sense to pick those players who play both forms for your firsts, but, if you don't have five players, then just pick someone who will definitely be playing in at least one form (for arguments sake, let's say FC). Now when you come to field your OD 2nd XI team, you obviously won't be able to pick this player, but, because each team now has five more rookies, you'll be able to play a rookie instead. For me, for example, I picked four players who will play both, and then J Lewis- who opens my FC batting, but his OD batting is so bad (20 odd) that he won't be contributing much to the 2nd XI OD side.

I understand all that the problem is that there is only two players ATM that play both FC and OD. And only three players that wont play any 2nd XI matches regardless of the pitch conditions. I had a chat to Tharmi about this and really their is no way we can pick five players without really weakening our 1st XI team. This was the possible list we came up:

1. A Ali
2. M Madgalle
3. L Crush
4. U Gordon
5. P Hitcock

The problem with that is that Madgalle and Gordon won't make our 1st XI OD in normal circumstances, so we would be picking just to have the lowest impact to our OD side.

What? The players you pick can only play in the 1sts, but they don't have to. It's just that they can't play in the 2nds.

I dont see why this is such a big problem... You have 25 players in your squad...

5 will be contracted so they can only play 1st XI...
That leaves you with 20 other players,(not counting the rookies you will be given)..

Even if you contract 5 OD players who wont play FC at all, it still leaves you 20 YES 20 players that can play FC cricket...

Will the rookies be released before we give in our 5 contracted players?
Not neccessarily...

Rookies are ready, but at this stage we aren't...

Don't worry a couple guys asked to retire from one form to concentrate on their stronger form.

Colts Contact "Retirement" List:

1. Ranasinghe Wickramaratne
2. Lennox Cush
3. Paul Hitchcock
4. Philip Jones
5. ?

The 5th player would be added after we finish trading
