wrongun dropping some hard-to-swallow truth bombs for the great unwashed here.

Except for the praising of *****, of course.

It’s a shame people don’t appreciate his take on geopolitics too.

Appreciate your support Burgey. Im sure ill be banned shortly but I always appreciated your posts.

Apparently, claiming a fact that England were awarded a WC and did not win it is considered Nationalist on here. I refuse to be a part of such nonsense. Rather stand out than follow the blind.

This is his greatest quality.

Watching the highlights, it seems like there's an element of booing still going on with Smith? Yet the same crowds worship at the altar of Stokes...dunno if it's a misinformation thing and these crowds don't actually know that Smith was not an active participant. Warner can cop it but for English fans who are often quite rightly seen as intelligent followers of the game, a) the booing certainly isnt hurting Smith b) it's not respecting one of the great players and individual series' of all time.
Haven't seen all of it but it seems the OT crowd have been the fairest so far. Fair contrast with Stokes but Smith deserved losing the captaincy even if he wasn't an active participant in the cheating. The severity of his (and Warner's) punishment was unjust though, and the crowd's booing an incident that didn't concern their team and whose own team has done much the same thing, just hypocritical.

Yes I was born and raised in Bombay India and then moved to Canada a few years ago. As a kid, I didnt like the concept of jingoism attached to sports, as it was taught to me by my grandad who was an olympian in 1948 for cycling. Represented India...I did not like how most Indians played their cricket and only focused on one sport....the jingoism was over the top. I discovered Australia when I was 6, watching an Ashes or something and just loved the aggression and win first mentality. Over the years loved watching the Waugh brothers, Warnie, David Boon etc and just became a die hard fan. Australian cricket is what I base most of my life on. Win first and keep trying, never give up. Ofcourse the world has changed but my love for Aus cricket remaisn constant.

No harm supporting a foreign team, buddy. It's how you do it that feels a little ingratiating. Which is funny because you obviously don't give a **** about getting along with other Australian posters, so I can even buy you legitimately admiring the Aussie way. You just lay it on a little too thick. And then your incessant goading of English supporters...i'm sure you understand that sort of needle and banter is almost exclusively reserved for Australians and Englishmen because of their shared history. Anyone else doing it just feels very disingenuous.

why arent we talking about steve smith
Everyone says Marshall is the best ever because he could do a bit of McGrath and a bit of Steyn equally effectively. I'd say Smith is much the same as a batsman. He has those monster series that guys like Lara and Ponting has whilst being consistent like Sachin. The way he switches gears and changes the outlook of the match is insane. Feels like the window before he's set is a lot shorter compared to others. When Smith gets to 50 he's as likely to get to 120 as Root is to 75. That's the difference between him and a good bat, I reckon. For Bradman a double century must've been that likely I suppose. In a world without the Don he's the complete batsman to me. He's averaging 65 in a bowler friendly era, damn.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain that. But for me, ive never looked at nationality in sports. I simply look at the team being supported. My banter of ribbing English fans regarding their WC and the Ashes loss was no different than what happens in these forums on a daily basis. But because I wasnt a regular, I was subjected to abuse by GIMH.

I will not blindly support fellow Aussie fans. If they post nonsense, I will call it out. Sadly, as ive pointed out before, this website has become extremely clanish and everyones afraid of a challenge. Stupid ignorant terms like Nationalists and trolls are thrown around. I am not a conformist and definitely wont change my ways for a forum. Moderators here are essentially lazy and do not like anyone who does not conform to their train of thought

GIMH asking me to leave this forum is indicative of the clanish behaviour that exists. Oh well, its the forums loss not mine. I can still read posts that I like but the website will eventually lose out on traffic. Also, thank you for atleast taking the time to understand and explain. I truly appreciate it.

i didn't see this innings but how did he handle Archer who was bowling very quickly according to cricinfo commentary?
He took the piss out of him for the most part in the second spell. First spell he didn’t actually face much of him. Moved around the crease and was basically trying to score off him every ball after tea. When Archer came back for his second spell Smith hit him for consecutive boundaries. Was obviously a bit of a plan by him to try to take him apart and make a point

This reminds me of some old fool I studied music with a few years ago who made the outrageous claim that he managed ACDC before they hit it big. He explained that he was dropped as their manager but this was in fact "their loss"

Good times

I don't know why but I enjoyed this Smith inns more than his previous ones.

Felt so much like backyard cricket. Trolling the bowlers and fielders.
Almost chopping onto his stumps, and looking for the single...and when he was on the floor and still playing his stroke. We can all relate to Steve Smith.

Arrogance has a way of biting people in the ass. I may not be your cup of tea but im upfront and honest. People can survive without the forum, the forum cant survive without people. Make sure you use better examples the next time. And I'm sure that ambitious guy is doing much better than you while you post on a cricket forum.

It almost felt dickish in a way. He was trolling them as you say, making them realise their inadequacy. Hasn't been easy out their at all but Smith has basically fulfilled 100% of expectations. Fought with the tail, went hard, battled when it was needed.

Bit harsh that, don't think his rant was addressed purely at the English posters

It wasnt a rant. Its simply exposing the hypocrisy here. You guys accuse non conformists of being nationalists but then behave like nationalists themselves. Protect your environment (in this case the forum) from 'outsiders' who dont conform. The irony.
