Saifuddin is a hero. WAFG. And he's only 22. Hope he goes from strength to strength. Been good this WC all-round and I love his energy in the field.

Good chase. This batting lineup is still heavily reliant on big scores from Tamim, Shakib and Mushy. Then again, most sides are heavily reliant on big score from their best batsmen. I think having Mahmadullah out there would have helped quite a bit too.

Sabbir, Moses, Liton, Soumya all very talented batsmen and have shown this WC that they belong, they just need to start producing more consistent results.

It's a bit of a disappoint WC in some ways. I'm very happy they've been so competitive in all but one game so far. Having said that, they had real opportunities to beat Aus, India and NZ but threw them away. Against Aus and India it was by starting off poorly in the field and leaving too much for their batsmen to do, and against NZ it was the batsmen throwing away starts. Overall they've let lots of chances slip in the field as well.

But this is still probably their best WC showing to date. Which is very very heartening. Hope we end on a strong note and beat Pakistan and bathe in the tears of their fans.

Shakib came so close. With 1082 WC runs from 28 games, another 4 more runs and he would have overtaken Javed Miandad (1083 from 33) and Adam Gilchrist (1085 from 31). That's amazing considering his bowling skills as well.

They still have one more game.

Shakib can feel very hard done by when he inevitably gets passed up for player of the tournament

So close to what? 11th highest runs scored in World Cups isnt exactly a particularly notable record.

At least you can confidently say they had a go in every game and tried to win it, unlike WI and India.

Jadeja is terrible as ODI batsman. Can't expect even decent 25 runs innings from him specially under pressure. And with lacklustre middle order already Jadeja in place of a batsman will further weaken the batting.

Dhoni should come up to four and start at the middle overs. That's much better suited for his current batting thinking, to take it slow, build and then launch. Jadhav should be brought back to bat at five in place of Karthik. The likes of Pant and Pandya shouldn't be brought in until the 40th over.

Chahal had two straight poor games at Edgbaston, but should return to form elsewhere. Kuldeep's poor form since the IPL is worrisome. He needs to be brought back in form, but with all of Kumar, Jazz, Shami and now Pandya (for one match) among the wickets, he'll struggle to get back. Of course, he may replace Pandya, whose batting isn't for the long haul and bowling, no good bar a few lucky deliveries.
these are all stupid points ftr

Dhoni at 4 is not terrible tbh. Dropping Pandya and not letting Pant and Pandya bat before 40 are a bit dumb tho. The implication that Pandya is a hack is really poor. He's been good this WC.

Also atm I'd be more inclined to drop Chahal than Kuldeep. Partly because he's been taken apart for a couple of games, and partly because Jadeja spins the ball the same way as Chahal too. Kuldeep offers something different.

Stop with the Dhoni at 4 ****. That ship sailed ages ago. Dhoni at 4 would cripple the run rate with his complete inability to rotate the strike.

I'd actually play jaddu instead of dk. He can get the 10 runs that dk does and gives us a bowling option. Shami should not bowl in the death again though at any cost.

No-one should be getting dropped for Jadeja IMO. If one of the spinners is left out it should be to play both Shami and Bhuvi.

The great advantage of playing both Shami and Bhuvi should be that you get Shami's threat at the beginning/middle but Bhuvi's death bowling though, so Kohli definitely needs to captain them better if he picks that combination again. Picking DK because of small boundary dimensions (!!) was definitely too clever by ... well I was going to say half, but more than half really, as well.

Yes, I have made about 500 posts stating that Dhoni should bat at 4, but no more. He doesn't rotate strike. Either he comes to arrest a collapse or he bats after all specialist batsmen.

Yeah you've got this spot you keep giving to nobodies like Jadav, Karthik. Jadeja couldn't possibly be too much of a downgrade there

You're an averages man: Jadhav averages 43 with the bat and 35 with the ball in ODIs. He's had a poor tournament and he played a really horrible looking shot in his last game but he shouldn't be getting left out for Jadeja in what's going to be a sixth bowler+fifth batsman role, especially when Pandya is bowling well.

I'd go three quicks + one of KulCha as well tbh. Seems to be the way to go.
And Kul rather than Cha. Kuldeep has always had better control. I was a bit annoyed at how Chahal kept bowling on the legs to left handers.

he's got a point that, based on current form and the kind of match situations Jadhav is ending up in, Jadeja might actually provide greater output with the bat. Plus he'd be an immense 5th/6th bowling option.

Having said that Jadhav did save us versus Afghanistan so
