i hate to armchair paceman but it really doesn’t seem hard for overseas bowlers to do what anderson’s done today tbh
what he’s done is simply howl it a metre fuller so he’s averaging the good length rather than short of a good length. he said in his sook to the media about root and the coaching that it was deliberate last test that they were bowling it a metre short - why in the world was that the plan?
to me
the teams that come here and do well get the ball full. india did it in both their wins, the saffers did it when they won recently and england have done it a lot better in this match. touring teams always come here and get kerplunked when they bowl a metre or a metre and a half short, and given they are international standard bowlers they clearly plan to do so. why?

Really haven’t seen Robinson’s relative lack of pace as a negative factor for England at all so far given the decks which have been dished up. If you’re a tall medium-fast seamer, then the three pitches so far are about as good as you could wish for.

building on this the aussie tail always wags against the bottom feeders who pitch one at the stumps and get clanked through mid off by starc so they decide to bowl short of a length the rest of the series to the tail and wonder why they keep getting clanked more

yeah jokes aside he’s bowled very accurately and hasn’t acquitted himself poorly at all tbh: you don’t actually need to be raw pace on to succeed here if you bowl a good length. vern taking a four for at the waca when the saffers won is a prime example
