I still don’t understand what umpires call on impact actually means.
It's because there's a bit of uncertainty over where the actual point of impact is, for a bunch of reasons. Though I'm increasingly thinking that those should just be given as an "insufficient evidence" style not out, mostly because LBW is an inferior mode of dismissal that should be suppressed

Speaking of Boland I have been pleasantly surprised with how he has fared. He isn't really doing anything different to what he has been doing in Shield cricket for the last few seasons, but it is good to see it can trouble international batsman. At the very least he is handy depth to have going forward
