if starc consistently starts bowling the one that pitches middle and leg and jags away he'll be so much more dangerous outside of swinging conditions. mitch johnson got about 200 wickets with that ball

Hameed always looks iffy defending on off stump stuck in the crease with the bat coming down at that weird angle. Cummins pretty much the dieal bowler to exploit that too.

His home county is Yorkshire isn't it ? How the hell does he score runs at headingley early and late summer with this technique?

Has Cummins ever bowled poorly in his career? I genuinely can't remember. Probably headingley 4th innings? But even that was just stokes going nuts.

I had a look at this, the only Test in which he's taken fewer than two wickets was the India SCG 2019 one. And that I think India just outground Australia

He had a bit going on last summer tbf. Two summers earlier was ordinary but was bowling to low totals a lot.

i think he’s a better bowler when he doesn’t try to pitch up and swing it too much. Like it takes two overs to know if it’s hooping, if it isn’t why persist with half volleys when you can bowl a good length and get something off the deck across a right hander?

I think he’s just bowling a bit smarter this series. But on more helpful decks and vs a lesser line up tbf. But this stuff he’s bowling here would trouble more than most.

Oh yes that session where jadeja and pant did some nice downhill skiiing and bashed him around. Glorious.

Lancashire/Nottinghamshire. Though both of those are pretty seamer friendly too.

I think the bottom line was for that years he didn't. The one great summer he had was on roads.
