Is this the first time Pattinson, Cummins and Hazlewood (the on-paper strongest attack, ignoring balance etc etc) have played together?
Given this is only the second time Pattinson and Cummins have played together, yes.

cant wait till the last 20 overs this afternoon  Kidding

Wonder if it will turn out ot be a bowlers wicket - me thinks yes, dunno if Lyons will eat enough chocolate or drink enough coffee or smoke enough crack to show some effort or enthusiasm on day 5
Lyon is great on seamers wickets anyway, if it seams it spins according to one noted philosopher.

Presumably Bancroft was picked over Harris on the basis that he was seen as a better player. What has changed in the two tests? So there's that. But there's also the problem that Smith is presumably coming back in next test, so who are you dropping for him? Marnus? Wade? You give Bancroft one last chance, if he fails you can just move Usman up for the fourth test, if Bancroft scores, one of the middle order go out. This just reminds me of the 2013 Ashes when Lehmann stupidly dropped Cowan after 1 test and then Warner came back and Lehmann forced himself into a position where either Smith or Hughes had to be dropped because Usman certainly wasn't being dropped after one test
Tbh I don’t know Harris and therefore have no opinion. I just look at Bancroft and can totally see why they’d want to give someone else a go.

I think Warnie must have been in his ear too much the night before the last day at Lords saying "all you have to do is run up and they will fall at your ankles" Not that much effort I thought, too wooden, too many loose balls, bowled too long, not his usual innovation and brilliance, off day I guess.

Stokes was belting sixes off everyone no matter where they put hte ball

I was shocked Paine said he would have batted. Rainy day at Headingley is the possibly the most bowl-firsty situation in all of test cricket.

But if bancroft was picked and scored who goes out next test - Marnus, Wade? Its exactly the same situation with Harris in for him. We need runs this test and, according to Langer, Bancroft just doesnt have the form to take a last chance.

Root choosing to bowl, which is understandable in the conditions but he needs his bowlers to use them. Maybe these conditions will suit Woakes more than Archer. And if it's true that Broad is pitching it up more than previously, he should be a handful here.

Yeah, Stokes& Buttler are 2 of England's better players of spin to be fair (which isn't saying much).

Not sure it is that black and white. Could easily rate them equally but wanted a right hander, more experience in England etc.

oooh reckon they will, much as I don't want to see warner and Harris fail
