McMillan has been clocked at 140 in the past - I haven't seen him bowl this season, so he may not be near that at the moment, but for the last couple of seasons he has been off the short run.
I might be wrong as I am only going on the one game in which I've seen him bowl. I saw McMillan and Wilson bowling at North Harbour Stadium and Wilson was quicker.

When was that?

McMillan has only been back playing this season after nearly a season and a half off.

I doubt McMillan and Wilson played with each other prior to this season.

Apparently, Sherlock is injured although I note there was an R Sherlock batting in the CHCH club competition last weekend.

Wade Cornelius was visibly quick prior to his back injury. I haven't seen him bowl since he came back this season though.
neither - but the wickets haven't come back with him

Bryce, I assume he is the only R. Sherlock in the CHCH club competition. Maybe he is going along the same lines as Bond and doing the club batting thing until he can bowl again.

I have only heard on forums that he has injured himself. I have never seen an "official press" article mentioning him being injured. I assume since Canterbury lured him to CHCH that he would be playing if he were fit. Clearly, he isn't.

Maybe they should get all the young fast bowlers into the surgeon for titanium vertebrae wrapping in anticipatation of injuries assuming Bond's bionic man solution succeeds. :D

I saw Te Ahu Davis at the under-19s and he didn't look that quick. He did however have an awesome slower ball, dismissed 2 Indian batsman in hilarious style.

he has changed his action since then and done alot of coaching work as opposed to before then he had done hardly any, he is a much more accurate bowler now and has spent alot of time at numerous fast bowling clinics

someone also mentioned Leighton Burtt(??) as being an upcoming young quick and I think there was also a 4th youngster named to go along with Sherlock, Davis & Burtt..........

In cairns' last test series in england he was pushing in the late 80's, which was far more than tuffey and martin who were more like late 70/early 80's. Whether those speeds were injury related i don't know. I get that feeling that cairns can still crank it up every now and then body permitting.

Butler would've had the bulging disc in his back, of course.

Tell me crickey, you're not a friend of McMillan's are you? Interesting that you made your debut post in this thread, three weeks after it would've slipped off the first page. :)

I was talking to the girlfriend of a FC cricketer the other day - she said she was blown away that people were actually discussing his efforts when she 'ego searched' his name on google. I started to feel quite uneasy, knowing exactly which site that was!
Interesting observation....but way off track!! i just simply think hes quick!!

Martin can bowl 140k/86-87mph. I don't know what happened in that England series. For a while there I suspected they were turning the radar down when the New Zealanders were bowling and cranking it back up again for the English. Oram, Tuffey and Martin were all around 80mph, but can regularly bowled 83-85mph.

Dayle Hadlee believed Sherlock went over 150 km's in South Africa.
Im not exactly sure how fast Te Ahu Davis is bowling, but apparently he's in the upper 140's.
As much as I want to.......I find both those statements extremely difficult to believe

Dayle would say something like that to justify his existance, how long has he fronted the bowling academy now? For what results? He will need to be held accountable soon. Much as I rever the Hadlee name we cant let them slip into cruisy roles in our administration.

Especially as they are a bloody minded family. Never forget that it was Walter Hadlee acting in an amateur and stubborn manner that prevented Glenn Turner playing a a full international career. Instead all that talent and run scoring went into county cricket! Ridiculous!! :shocking: All the man wanted was to be treated like a pro! Which he was!!

Oh errrrrrr :offtopic:

We badly need some fast bowlers :crybaby:

Ya cant dibbly dobbly your way to test series wins

To be fair to Hadlee, I'm pretty sure he was taking Sherlock's speed straight from the SuperSport radar in SA. The ODs were televised there.

I wouldn't rule out Sherlock clocking that sort of speed, even if we do have to wait until his mid-20's for him to get his body right. Dennis Lillee said "he could be a Brett Lee" 18 months ago, and Shane Bond has taken him on as a quite a close friend and protege, so he does have a bit in his favour.

I guess people can look at Butler's lack of real impact and say the academy has failed NZ, but it's hard to think of many other young bowlers in the world who have a more obviously-coached action. If anything he's too mechanical, with the only consistent movement he gets through the air being reverse-swing with the white ball.

A lot of Aussies are raving about Shaun Tait, but to me it looks like a coach hasn't touched him since he was 5. If he goes on to be a great bowler, is that good luck or good management?
