2nd Test at the MCG, Melbourne, 26 Dec - 30 Dec 2020

wade is just under test standard by hard metric (ave 35 bare minimum imo) but i think he can do a job in home tests opening.
Matty Wade would have made 10k runs had he played for NZ. It's just that the standards of Aust cricket is so high that Matty Wade had to wait so long to establish himself

Just been watching the highlights.

Teeny bit more elbow in Siraj's action than I'm comfortable with. His action reminds me of a taller Andrew Hall.

And I don't wanna jinx the boy, but like the cut of Gill's jib. Looks to have a good grasp of his game for a tyro, seems to have that extra fraction of a second of time that denotes class and a nice economy of movement.
He used to really be able to crank it up to over 145kph in IPL but I think he's lost a yard or so. The steep bounce is a nice weapon in Test cricket. I think although it is possible Siraj will have a good series, I think Umesh is likely the better bowler.

I think Wade looks in really good nick just now. Just needs to make sure he doesn't waste his form with brain fades.

Contrast with Labuschagne, who looks scratchy as a sandpaper jock strap, but is still somehow scoring runs.

Are you even watching Umesh bowl? For a guy as experienced as him, he has no control over length. He's wasted the new ball in both games and wasn't much flash with the old one here either. Very frustrating.

I'm actually not! I'm in the UK. So I defer to the greater wisdom of those who have watched him in this series. He is a frustrating bowler to watch, but he really does consistently manage to take Test wickets which is not to be taken for granted.

I think he'll get away with it because everything else about him looks so smooth. Hall was positively jerk in comparison (don't really see the similarity to begin with unless it's a non-SA Hall you refer to).

Nah, it's the South African one I meant. Front on, snappy wrist, slightly elbowy right arm.

FMD that’s a big effort. Should have hung on. Kids been blessed so far. Went too far on the replay
