To me, this couldn't be worse timing for England with the pink ball Test. If it nips around, Richardson and Neser are going to be effective - you're picking a 21 and 24 FC average duo. That's a massive luxury. Yeah it's a break for England but I don't think it's as much of one as losing your two best bowlers should be. I think we're all comfortable with the fact Neser and Richardson are more than capable of picking over the carcass that is England's top order technique. And in Adelaide with a pink ball, they'd much rather it was anywhere else probably.

Tbh if Smith plays one of his typical ashes knocks, especially in a rescue job and we win, itl just feel weird not retaining him. Australians have short memories and love redemption stories
