you think Vince and Billings are the answer to Englands problems?
You got a wk in Buttler who is utter useless after such a long investment. Burns is just not suitable to bat on these surfaces.
Vince is a positive attacking player & wasn't that bad in last Ashes in Australia.
Billings has to be given a go I reckon. He has the talent & plays spin reasonably well & that will come handy in Sydney & MCG.

What is it with you and Billings? He's not in the Test squad, he wasn't even in the Lions squad, his First Class record is shithouse and he doesn't even have a particularly good international record in the formats he's meant to be good at.

I'd probably sooner recall Bracey and that's a terrible idea.

I think I’d like to see the follow on enforced, but the prospect of Harris opening under lights and failing again is a delicious one indeed.

Was never a strength of his, haha.

To use Mitch Marsh as an example, he only bowled 8% of the overs in matches he played when Smith was captain (so about 7 overs per day if they bowled all day) - and he averaged over 40 in them. Much more bowling and a better record under Clarke and Paine for him.
i missed this but yeah my fear that this would happen was exactly why i made that post. fortunately green started warming up basically straight after that.

even then he's probably going to end up underbowled

I know he isn't playing FC games.. England are all set to receive a thrashing this series anyways. They need to think outside the box. Go all guns blazing in MCG which is a fairly docile pitch.

I can understand the impulse to pick really good limited overs players in Tests when the First Class system isn't producing anyone... but picking medicore ones like Billings makes no sense.

"We're going to lose anyway so we might as well make bad selections" is never a good argument.

I know there's a new ball due soon so Starc can't bowl now, but bowling Lyon to Woakes is dumb. Green is fresh, get him on.

Yeah admittedly it's harder in an attack missing Cummins + Hazlewood, but our tactics against Woakes haven't felt right.

Getting them out for 250 with an hour left in the game may play into England's favour. Could have us 3-4 down.

indeed that sounds like tonights pudding.
but wouldn't it be totally confusing to everyone if he scored a nice 70/80?

Woakes is effectively a Test standard batsman against what they've sent down to him so far (full outswingers and off spin), and that's not even true about half their actual batsmen.

Lyon is bowling great but it's just silly tactically.
