Didn't Leach get completely taken apart by Pant? There were patches where he looked absolutely terrible against India but he did pretty well. Also, being a left arm spinner helped him, just like it would have helped Bess in this game since the Aussies have so many left handers.

Bess crumbled under pressure against India, it was his first tour in totally different conditions and he didn't know what to do. Happens to a lot of young players. Why just write him off like this? And this thing with full tosses is blown out of proportions, he wouldn't have made it this far if he didn't knew how to land the ball.

Going by his first class returns Maddinson has earned a recall. I think he's got a higher chance at coming into the side and averaging a handy 40 than failing miserably. better than Green's 26/49 combo. We can agree to disagree but I sniff another Mitch Marsh career atm, stat wise anyway. I'll admit Green certainly looks the part as a bowler at least

That's not really relevant to what I'm saying. Not saying that's how many you need but you should get as many as you can get. If you can get 550+ in your first innings you go for it. If Aus declare 5/450 then they've missed a bit of a trick because they'll likely have to bat again anyway
