I reckon whether he can play this sort of innings was a bigger question than how good he is when he has more time at the crease. He can obviously construct an innings well iMO.

Yeah definite protocol breach that one.
Smith is awesome but its his non India ODI batting that is the issue. Today, he was other worldly for sure, even more than the last game where it was only the last 70 that he looked like Bradman reincarnate. Here, he looked that from ball 1. Hopefully he uses up all his runs in these JAMLO games though. Gotta hope for something.
India's lack of intensity the biggest issue for me. Its ok to get pasted in Australia, most of our better ODI sides did too. But to see the wrist spinner going the journey, Bumrah serving up filth first ball of every new spell, Shami following suit and Saini looking like a club medium pacer who just happens to let go of the ball at 140+ does not help at all.
We do always suck very badly in the first few games of any tour though. So hopefully we get better as the tour goes on, esp. the red ball stuff. I would gladly trade 6-0 in the LO games for a 2-1 test series win.
We are gonna lose this by about 200 runs.

For Marnus it's a good indication though. I don't think there's much doubt that he'll do a good job coming in at 2-30. The question was whether he could do the job in this sort of scenario as well.

Wickets taken at an average of 59.5 per wicket.
Really glad the pitches are conducive to strokeplay, couldn't have a greentop now, could we.
I'm just in a cranky mood, 4's & 6's off nearly every second ball, doesn't do it for me, no matter how good the batting is.
Glad I'm not a bowler.
