The problem with this lineup is that no one outside of Root, Stokes and occasionally Butler is willing to grind it out and score ugly runs. Everyone else gives you a chance and that too early in their innings.

i mean, that's half the top six. that really should be enough

Well played Sri Lanka. Safe to say I wasn't the only person thinking we'd win pretty comfortably today (though as an England fan I'm always expecting pretty much this sort of thing) but we've been outplayed here.

Nah most sides atleast have lower order bats or tailenders who can act as pseudo cake, or their top order explosion comes from people willing to settle and get their eye in first (Rohit, Gayle, Warner, Finch, etc). England is literally all icing with one slice of cake that finds infuriating ways to get out and two other slices of cake that would rather be icing instead

This is the best thing ever but waking up to Burgey's posting tomorrow is going to be painful

haven't seen Buttler grinding it out in ODIs...it's just Root and Stokes

This is good for a giggle, as all upsets are when your team isn't the one being upset. England will still get through comfortably IMO, probably not in first place, though.

Good from SL. I don't think England have beaten them in a World Cup in decades (did they beat them in '99?). Saying that, most half-decent teams have historically owned England at World Cups. :D
