yes the point being that a few runs being scored up front to get a wicket or two saves you a lot of runs later
Maybe vs most teams.. I'm not sure giving away a chunk of runs vs a team that has a 30 avg #10 makes much sense.

Not saying Southee should be dropped for Mills, but this is why you need experience in your squad. Guarantee you if Mills was opening the bowling he would be steady and boring as you would want.
Yes, can't buy experience. Bowled very well in the champions trophy final v Aussie if I remember correctly

So, umm, yeah -- bowling average short balls at Warner isn't a good idea. Let's stop that, eh?

give southee another over. he was starting to calm the **** down in the last few balls there, and we don't want to take a step back. save milne and dan as long as possible.

At this point NZ would be happy if Aus just end up with 300.. I fear 350 is unstoppable bar a great spell from someone.

Trying to bounce Warner on a small pitch when you're around 135km is cricketing suicide. Even top edges will fly over the ropes. Strange tactics if that was planned.

Interesting. Definitely had to make a change after that Southee start, but Vettori is a bit of a gamble.
