2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

So before the next round of Shield matches the England Lions will tour Australia in January. They play two 4-day games in Brisbane against a Cricket Australia XI and then a 4-day game in Sydney vs Australia A.

16 year old Rocky Flintoff has made the Lions squad so that wll be interesting

Have to credit young Rocky. All the disadvantages of nepotism and having a mediocre first season and the Lions still recognize his raw talent.

So for CA XI we could see Hunt, Harris, Lovell, Goodwin, Clayton, Rocchiccioli

Doran, Curtis and Gilkes are the only FC keepers without a BBL contract I think. [Edit: Doran has a HH contract]

Finding fit pace bowlers without a BBL contract is hard?

Curtis is definitely the gloveman to go for. To quote my friend slippy, doran and gilkes are wastemen.

Would be nice to get Konstas playing those matches, even with his BBL contract. Would be a massive season of red ball cricket then

The 2nd CA game is after the BBL regular games so anyone not in finals can play. The A game is then after the BBL and after Australia squad has left for Sri Lanka (Konstas likely to be in that tour squad?)

Lions tour schedule

14-17 Jan - CA XI v Eng Lions, Shaw Park, Brisbane

22-25 Jan - CA XI v Eng Lions, AB Field, Brisbane

30 Jan - 2 Feb - Aus A v Eng Lions, Olympic Park, Sydney

Please don't defame Doran by putting him in the same sentence as Gilkes. At least Doran can hit a ton in this shameful comp if he wants to.

Gilkes has had 5 years and hasn't figured it out in any format

Sending an A team on a tour - when for 2/3rd of the tour that host's A team players won't even be available (because too much cricket), seems like an appropriately wasteful way for 2 of the Big3 to waste all that stolen ICC money. Obviously so rich they are just pissing it away.

Oh well, at least we know who'll captain the CA XI games batting #3. Hopefully McSweeney does well and makes the SL tour squad as a middle order bat

(McSweeney does have a BBL contract but his CA contract should over rule that)

Hardly stolen as the other countries contribute very little
